Ordered a Skoda today!!

I'm with maddog on this one. The Skoda for the money is a quality car. The only difference I would have made is to have waited 1 more year and bought it 'nearly new' or pre-registered for additional savings. But each to their own.I hope get many miles of enjoyable motoring from it. :)

Cheers , ideally you are right i would prefer to buy pre owned even if its only a few months but the industry has changed a great deal , not many pre regcars around and people not changing their cars as often. I think 1 year old cars will be sought after whatever make , should help depreciation levels no end though

Next years and the year afters big purchase is already planned as well unfortuantly:(

And yes i'm sure the legroom and boot size is better in the Superb than even an S class , thats important as i have a 9 yr old who is already over
5ft and i'm 6'1" myself

But an s-class comes in LWB and will then beat the legroom in the Superb hands down... ;)

Saw a Superb in the flesh tonight and took a look around it.

Singularly unimpressed. Lets just say, I wouldn't buy one.

Compared to your C-Class?

Well if we all liked the same it would be a boring world

The Superb is quite a bit bigger than a C class perhaps you should have looked at the Fabia ;)

is the boot bigger in the lwb??

Nope - did you think the s-class boot was too small? It's smaller on the W220 than it was on my W140, but actually still a fairly big boot.

If you really want a lot of loading space, then an e-class estate has lots more space than an s-class. But an s-class is for wafting people around in ultimate comfort, not to use as a mover's van :D.

Well, I certainly couldn't justify buying a new Mercedes. I would probably buy a Skoda too if I had to have a new car. And you're right about the MB dealers.

The problem is that most new Mercs are bought by people with too much money who are happy to pay over the odds for servicing and repairs. They just want the status that the three-pointed star guarantees. Let them, I say.

I decided to buy a two-year-old car and I plan to keep it for five years at least. The depreciation should work out around £2,000 a year, which is about the same as my previous car - a Toyota Picnic that I also bought second-hand and kept for six years.

I am very happy with my choice and I still smile inwardly every time I drive it. :)
