Personalised Number Plates

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I've been away for a long weekend but didn't expect to come back to 7 pages of replies!

For the record, I'll reiterate that what I have in mind isn't really a name related plate but a word/phrase one. It does however have connotations relevant to at least one very well known celebrity.
It's close enough by way of number/letter selection that it doen't really need any modification to look 'right'.
It's still available from DVLA, so it'll only be a fixed price, regardless of the current financial climate.

I figure if I can get the celebrity I have in mind interested in it, it could command a very favourable return on my investment but even if not, it'd finish my own car off nicely as an accessory (to go with my red calipers* :p).

* which, for reference, were painted partly to preseve them, partly to look good and partly to impress the MoT tester (which worked, as he sorted out my headlamp alignment and a couple of other issues for free after seeing that I'd acted on his advisories to a higher standard than expected).

what i dont understand is why doesnt/hasnt the celebrity or he/she's agents already bought it from the DVLA if it is such a good plate? Why would they want it from you at a higher price, when they could just go there now and buy it for less...

S123 XXL (SIZE XXL)
GR06 CER (obvious, I hope!)
K155 MY S (KISS MY ASS)
M8 ECL (MB E-CLass)
L3 NDG (Mrs Marque's initials)

I may have to keep them for a few years to see a return!

M8 ECL - cant see it myself, but i remember the thread about these before. KISS MY ASS - cant see that either.

Quite like the S123 XXL and the GR06CER though!

Probably becausae, like a lot of 'celebrities', they want to retain at least a little anonymity.

... or because they haven't thought of it yet.

V8 JAG and the like might spring to mind for several people as a desirable plate but it's only the first one to buy it from DVLA who can have it (until they decide to sell).

I may be wrong but there is no record(pardon the pun ) of Paul McCartney having ever owned the MUS1C number plate.

I could equally be wrong , but he drove a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud bearing that number in one of the Beatles movies and there were publicity photos of him with it as well .

It may have belonged to one of the other Beatles , to the record company or may have been 'made up' ?

Another amusing one -

there's a butcher in Falkirk has M1 NCE on his van !

A colleague mentioned that he bought his brother a plate some years ago for £450, but because his brother didn't have a car, he put it on his own.

Ran around with it on his own car for 10 years, when one day a bloke asked if he wanted to sell. He relieved said bloke of £10k for the privellege!!

I 've looked at Beatles sites listing their cars -plenty on there but no Silver Cloud or MUS1C number plate or any mention of it to other Beatles
Number does exsist and was sold for 65k in 1989 and is currently on a BMW 750iL
It is possible that record company owned it or just used it as a show plate.
McCartney does have 900MPL(McCartney Productions Limited) on his 560SEL

Would anyone be interested in buying H15 MB X (His Mercedes Benz, Kiss)?
