Are there no penalties or comebacks when paying off the finance deal early during the cooling off period? What about after the cooling off period? Edit sorry just read about the £60 penalty.Ah you misunderstood....i had the cash so knew my max budget, but i took the finance option to secure the best deal....then paid off the finance in the cooling off period
Being very crude, i had a budget of 35k, being 20k cash and my A45 which the internet valued at around 15k part/ex from numerous sources.
My car had a screen price of 35k. The deal i screwed down was a screen price of 33k and a part/ex price of 16.5k, therefore a cost to change of 16.5k. The dealer said he would accept this deal only if i took their PCP package....at a hefty rate of 10.9%. I agreed knowing i would simply pay off the finance deal when i picked my car up
It was also very strange when i took delivery....As my A45 value was over the Maximum 35% PCP deposit allowance, not only did i pick up a shiny new car, they also paid me about 5 grand into my bank. That was a good day haha
Just looking at the finance agreement now...The interest charged was £5,824, so not only did i save that, i also saved 3.5k what i was willing to pay.
No, they charged a nominal fee of about £3 a day during the 14 day cooling off period. All finance deals will be different thoughAre there no penalties or comebacks when paying off the finance deal early during the cooling off period? What about after the cooling off period? Thanks for that information. I expected the penalties to be greater. No, they charged a nominal fee of about £3 a day during the 14 day cooling off period. All finance deals will be different though
In terms of paying finance deals early, again different finance houses will have different T's & C's. Most will charge a penalty for paying of early - i.e. a months interest or something. Simple way round this is just to make a lump sum payment which leaves say £100 balance, then let your next contracted monthly payment clear the balance. Paying off early will always save you interest, which against a depreciating asset, is a no brainer IMO
Its not financial advice i'm giving her to be clear, just learnings from my own experiences
Great stuff. All the goodies that matter and no slouch either.I have had to make a very difficult decision, I had to wrestle with it for a couple of days but I have decided that a C63 is 'just' outside of my budget. I could just about afford the cheaper one's but it left me with so little choice, especially as I still wanted to have certain options (PP & Performance Exhaust).
Luckily this decision was made a lot easier when a nicely spec'd C43 estate came up for sale at MB Brooklands. I'm incredibly happy to report that I've decided to buy this car and I should have it Thurs/Fri next week!
