The EV fact thread

Of course the exciting developments are around the arrival of three and four year old used EV’s on the second user / private market. For anyone who doesn’t have to tow a caravan 400 miles a day without the time for a coffee break, the prospect of a 200+ mile range EV on their driveway for £10 to £15k is a real game changer.
Absolutely agree - however as a relatively early adopter and a (rare?) private buyer, I don’t plan on adding my almost five year old Tesla to the market any time soon. I did consider changing but really can’t find a case to do so - and of course my per mile cost just continues to fall over time.

I plan to run it until it becomes unreliable or too limited for regular use (eg by battery degradation) - which, according to an independent inspection I had done last year, could easily be another 200,000 miles or more down the road.

Only another 35 years to go and then your Tesla will be eligible for historic status.

The only EV I am interested in would be a compact SUV plug in hybrid with a battery range of 35-40 miles, would be ideal for me as 90% of my driving is very local these days. been having a look around for a circa 2 year old model, any suggestions welcome.

For sure, and a good tactic.

My point was that company cars and lease finance drive new car markets. Those vehicles then get catapulted out into a very grateful used market.

It's disappointing to see so many EV chargers empty on our motorways, all those little Ionity's desperately waiting for customers. Now that the used cars are reaching the 3-4 year old market for £10-20k a pop, they'll have a few more punters to entice. (Although obviously most drivers will still still charge their vehicles at home or work 90% of the time)

Is it not, electric motor driving the wheels makes it an EV in my limited little brain box ;)
Much will still depend on whether you plug it in at night.
Hybrid Johnnies and Joannas are famous for not bothering

Couple of mates have Ford Kugas, which they like a lot

Cheers, thou that would mean going over to the dark side, and I like to use indicators ;), will take a look.
It really is an amazing car, if you want a good look at one pm me, you are not a million miles away.

If this came out on April 1st you wouldn't believe it. Imagine you took delivery of one at full price just days before this ad came out
😡

I'm sure the singular person.in the UK who paid their own cash for one of these and not got it on the bik was probably gutted ......

Does anyone on here actually have a MK2 Leaf ??????

I've missed the 14k deal but there seems to be plenty of pre registered ones about with 0 miles for 16.5k available for immediate delivery. I've got a Swift on order but won't be here for 6 months and could probably finance the leaf at that price for a similar monthly ???? The Swift is more funky, slower but more chuckable whilst the leaf is more roomy and quicker in a straight line. The limited range of the leaf is no Biggie for me as my cars are parked overnight 3 foot away from a 3 pin plug and only do 40 miles per day so a slow charge overnight every couple iof nights is no bother.

Thoughts ?

This sounds like a recipe for very very cheap motoring....

Perfect for an EV, and I’d say an EV would be better than ICE for what you describe.
