Good morning all, last night got the 3 warnings as above, automatically thought, its just a fuse and it will be an easy fix. Checked his morning and could not find a duff fuse but the 2 licence plate lamps were blown.
I have tried a search on this in the forums but can,t find an answer.
My thoughts are that its someing more sinister than just replacing bulbs.
Anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks in advance.

Job done, apart from spelling brake wrong in my title , I an not as thick as you may think.
Found broken cable in wiring harness that runs up boot hinge.
Everthing is working fine now after repair and even the remote central locking fault has been fixed, I have been banging my head off the wall on the central locking for months and now I am a happy bunny watching the GP with a can odf stella.

Hi,

I am having this weird problem. This problem started with my E320 CDI 2003 w211 model yesterday. Parked the car for few hours at work and all of a sudden my boot was open and my alarm started going off. this happened about 4 or 5 times in three hour period. When I got home and parked the car it happened again. I then removed both batteries and left it for 10 minutes. Connected the batteries again only to find that as soon as I lock the car the alarm goes off, the front passenger side headlight flashes constantly, the rear lights flasing constanlty and on the cluster display a message came up with a key sign and underneath it 'Display Faulty visit workshop'. I parked the car inside the house and removed both terminals of both batteries and left it overnight. This morning I started it up and everything is ok apart from the boot wont open now from remote nor from the button inside the car. not sure why all of this madness happened.

I am thinking that this problem is related to a broken wire in the boot somewhere. can you please tell me how you found the problem you had with the wiring. any help is really appreciated. thanks.

Brown wire in the loom next to the hinge on the left hand side broken!
Job done thanks to this forum MB Main Dealer failed to trace issue when the Number plate light warning came up and then the central brake light warning ....... Hurrah saved £££ fixing it myself!

I've just had my Right number plate light warning come on on my W211, but the bulb is fine although looking a little discoloured, just no light. looking at the other comments, it may well be a broken wire..any thoughts? thanks Worried of Norfolk

Most likely just the bulb about to fail.
Best advice is change them both.

it will be a broken wire on the boot hinge, i had the same on mine.
