I fail to see why we have these arguments

I've said many times before, I speed. Many do. If I was booked for doing so then that's my choice, I certainly wouldn't bleat about the system on a forum.

You speed? Your choice. Get booked? So what.

dont bother complaining here as quiet a few are holyier than thow

Or perhaps most of the adults here would be willing to accept responsibility for our own actions instead of blaming anything and everything else in life for the consequences of our own actions.

if he was doing 90 in a 30 then hang him

doing 5 over then a warning is all he deserved if anything at all

every time ive been stopped (4 times in 6 years) they could not have been friendlier or more helpful or friendly but i resent the fact that we are used as cash machines

if there was no fine involved for being 5mph over do you really think he would have been stopped

no chance at all

i make a point of doing 15 mph around the built up areas where i live as at that speed i know i will not hit any children let alone anything worse as i believ in areas with houses and children then the speed limit should be 15mph as then virtually no one would die

but at 10pm on an empty road that is a 40 and your doing 45 then logic should be used and no one should be stopped

Then stick to the rules and they won't be able to take your cash.

It's all just more of the same: it's only 5mph, it's this, it's that, blah blah.

They are public roads and if we use them we either stick to the rules or take responsibility for what we do without patheticly bleating about it. Kids in kindergarten have more stomach than some of the supposedly adults on here.

Irrespective of whether a warning could or should be issued, the OP stated he was stopped for speeding. Simple really.

45 sounds ok. So does 46, what about 47? Maybe 48. Perhaps 49 if you're ok? 50 would be alright wouldn't it, say after 9pm. Then you can add a few more mph on seeing as it's dark. Soon be 55 - 15mph over the limit. May as well hit 60 I suppose, what's 5 mph between friends (apart from being 5mph over the limit which is what the OP was booked for)...

Of course I'm being daft, but who are we to say 5mph over is ok? Sounds harsh, sure it does. I'd be pretty annoyed too. Doesn't make it right though, irrespective of how sour we feel about it.

I just don't understand why it seems normal to blame everyone, every system, when in fact it was the choice of the driver to ignore the helpful speedometer and the posted speed limits and then have the sheer audacity to complain when stopped for driving too fast! How awful :(

Unless said person has been drinking etc - but Plod isnt going to know without stopping him first.
Most are likely to get away with it in the circumstances outlined above, but if it becomes acceptable to drive at 45 in a 50 then the next moan will be those who are caught doing 50 in a 40 because if 45 at night is acceptable then 50 is only 5mph over -where does it end ?

Speeding is absolute, you either are speeding or you are not, if you choose to speed you must be prepared to suffer the consequnces of your actions like any other person taskign the same risk.
I speed on occasions - I wont be bleating if I get caught, Thats not to say I would be happy but I cant believe I would be on a forum moaning about it!

wake me up when this thread gets pulled please:rolleyes:

I'll let you all into a little secret. My licence has 3 points on it, for speeding, on the A1.

<hangs head in shame>

Perhaps I should post a thread about it, I mean, I was only doing 80(something), and the camera didn't know that I felt it perfectly safe. Mind you, this was a year ago, I suppose I should have moaned about it then

Or when you get hair; whichever occurs first

oh that's right! get at me just because you have eaten too much and swelled up to the size of Jupiter.....Its not my fault you are rolling about like a weeble!
