What car did you pass your driving test in?

I'd agree they were

I had (shared with my mum) a mimosa yellow Dolomite sprint

Passed second time (like I am told all the best drivers do....ahem )

Then, as a 17 year old got let lose in one of the fastest little cars of the day (it were a few years old in 1985, but it did go;))

I miss that car......

A 106 Aztec (but in blue). Even though it was the 1st car I had driven in, I knew it was a piece of crap.

Nissan Sunny (instructors car) like the one below but metallic chocolate brown.

Passed 1st time at 17. :bannana:

VW Golf Mk 1 in that lovely wishy washy light metallic green, registration GGF 450T, boo hoo hoo, the memories!!

Ford Fiesta 1.8 Diesel (I think it was 1.8 any way) - IIRC it was a horrible burgandy colour!

So , am I the only person on here to have learned & passed (2nd attempt) in a Merc ?

Its a rare privilege Derek to get to learn in a Mercedes, never mind have them throughout ones motoring career. Dont underestimate it :thumb:

Are you Dennis Thatcher ? Nice pipe .......

...Mmmm... don't see many of them nowadays...

One of these for me.

Matchstick jammed in the rear window rubber so that by lining it up with the kerb, you could reverse round corners with ease. :thumb:

Oops, sorry for large photo. It was a 4 speed column change with left hand umbrella style handbrake. Bench seat in front so seating for six. I've always liked estates since then. The alternative at the time was a Volvo 145. Mercedes did not have an estate until the late 70s. I passed my test in 1976, by then the old girl was fairly ragged. It got a respray at 3 years old because of rust!! Rust on a W210...not even close to Datsun in the 70s.

Ahem...the photo was taken in 1977...I was 20 that year...that's my dad...he's 82 now.

I passed in a MG Midget and still have it.

Anyone else still have theirs?
