2nd auxiliary battery replacement in 5 years along with new front discs and pads on the front and rear pads again!

Replaced the footwell flap motor. System is now satisfactory. That's the footwell flap, the thermostat and the front SAM. All the springs are new so that should be four out of five of the normal W203 problems sorted.

Removed white paint sprayed all over the near side panels and wheel arches after driving into a pool of fresh paint that fell off a decorators van on the elevated section of the A40. The paint may be 'water-based' but it took a couple of hours of elbow grease and water hose to remove.

Failed to find the secret menu for the video input I found on the back of the Comand. Managed to find the fold mirrors on lock though. I know it shortens the life of the wiring but on my street, I would sooner not risk a dimming glass. Scrubbed up quite a few bits of trim while it was all apart.
Tried to get the ipod adaptor to work. Ipod saw the adaptor and the canbus passed through it to control the volume but I couldn't work the ipod so it is plugged into the aux input where it works well. I'll run a longer lead to it and mount it somewhere other than the glovebox. Need to find a loopback fiber for the CD changer which needs to be removed.

My new media cable arrived earlier so I plugged it into my new bluetooth streaming dongle and fired it up. Finally I can stream Spotify and podcasts.

I can't remember who suggested I fit a dongle (it was on on another thread) but I'm really grateful.

It was irritating when I got out of a hire car into mine and found myself restricted to CD's, music I've pre-loaded and regular radio stations. And as for having to listen to Talksport on AM.......

Happy days.

Sitting outside the tube waiting for my daughter listening to the new Lorenzo al Dino album in all its CD quality.

Fitted a jack pad and now have a full set. inserted the firmware update disc and found it was not necessary. Found a genuine 2016 disc for £50. Repaired a mirror door on a sun visor. Took it to buy bits for mending aeroplane. Need a day off to go up to play!

Update disc loaded straight in and ran It seems to have a lot of functions the earlier one didn't. At the moment I would like to find out how to make the display show North up and not South but I am sure it will be found...

KICKING MYSELF. What a silly bvggerI am. Fitted new front disks and pads (in a hurry) test drove to pick up wife and was geting a grinding noise. Hoped it was just a bedding in thing. How wrong was I. I fitted one of the inner pads the wrong way round in my hurry. Just hope I have not damaged the disk to much for the MOT re-test. :wallbash: Other than that it is an easy job a proper garage would do it in less than one and a half hours. Took me one forty.

Sorting my seat out, new lumber motor(mine dead) & lumber back( mine broken), armrest bracket(nut missing) heated seat pad( cables pulled out) & new cushion!!

Took my SLK 55 for it's first long trip since I buying it in February. 200 miles across country from S.W. Wales to Hyde Manchester. An indicated 34.1 mpg on the trip counter when I arrived, despite using all the horses to overtake a good few times on the hilly Welsh roads. ( great fun as I was alone so no wife to tell me I was frightening her ! )
The last 10 miles being in mainly stop start rush hour traffic meant I had to turn the Eco button off before I was driven crazy by the engine turning itself off and back on again after every 50 yards, so I was amazed how light on fuel this engine is on a long run, given high mpg was not why I bought it.

On top of the starter motor have had the following whilst it’s in the garage:

IC Pump electrical fault found and sorted (another issue related to the none OEM windscreen originally fitted by Autoglass!!)

Various pipes & seals replaced around the engine bay due to being tired / perished (why I’d only ever go to MSL, no one else would check or even notice things like this until they fail)

Ordered a new passenger side air intake pipe due to current one just starting to separate on the material section (rubbish design)

New front number plate holder ordered as the old one looks “old”....

New front and rear 4D number plates ordered (controversial lol, but my two young sons wanted to buy me something for the car for my birthday and this is what they’ve chosen, but I am not suppose to know lol!). Their first choice was to wrap the car, but they quickly realised at 8 and 11 years old they couldn’t afford it :D

Decided to start hacking the can bus. Built a computer to Do so. First job will be to mask the speedo signal at the Comand if reverse is engaged.

Did two school runs in the Merc not the Clio this morning so I could listen to more streamed music. Did I mention that I'm excited about my new Bluetooth Dongle?

Anyway it's SO MUCH better than listening to Alan Potato Head Brazil going on an on about the same top 4 clubs, betting and drinking.

This is the dongle https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01NACN8PY/?tag=amazon0e9db-21

Just spent ½ a day cleaning and painting the honeycomb grills on the front and back of my s205 premier plus...not with paint I hasten to add but the liquid stuff you apply to black shoes...with an artists paint brush...each honeycomb...looks great...just hope it lasts....
