What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Rory, are they doing the update bit by bit so as to use Star on other (more profitable work) ?

Don't think so - I believe the update is done via the USB port in the car.

They had a problem downloading the file from Germany. Used to be DVD based (even the paperwork they provided me mentions a DVD) but now it goes onto a USB and takes 1.5 hours to do the (maps) update in the car.

My maps have not been updated since the car ws new in 2016. I asked my local Indie to do it but they are not keen. I emailed the local Inchcape MB dealership and after a week I'm still waiting for reply. I'll try to persuade the local Indie again. Thanks for the info on how it's now done.

MB should have given you the latest maps before your warranty expired. I'd get onto them first. Speak to MB UK, I've found them helpful.

Failing the above, talk to the guys at Catalog

Took the old girl for a drive around Suffolk. Had some fun with a combine harvester on the A12 and then a close encounter with 'tractorboy' down a country lane. Treated her to new rear tyres, then once I was home, hosed her down, cos it looked like we'd been through a haystack in the Sahara! 🏜.

Parted ways with it! Replacement soon come!

Cleaned the dirty black marks and stains offa my boot carpet. Seems to be drying out OK but may need a second go as the dirty areas I focused on may be drying lighter than the rest of it. Dull as ditchwater I know but better than paying ~£130 for a new one..boot carpet_opt.jpg

Collected it from the dealer, drove home (sadly the route didn’t permit particularly spirited driving), and started to get to grips with the multitude of menus.

Just put a coat of Fabsil on the CLK roof after cleaning it the other day

would you recommend it? Mine needs doing. I used Renovo products before

Yep Renovo is excellent stuff , the Fabsil Gold is cheaper and you can buy it in bulk , I normally buy 2.5L on eBay (I use it on tents as well though )

cool thanks, I'll take a look (I'll be just using it on missy as I don't have a tent 🙃)

Fabsil is just a waterproofer, not a cleaner or colourant. Renovo do 3 different produsts, 1 for each thing. If the hood is clean and an acceptable colour, Fabsil is a cheap way to re-proof it, but if it's dirty you need to clean it first, then if the colour has faded you need to re-colour it before waterproofing.
