What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

I've decided to put them to sleep for a bit

It passed. Annoyingly, the garage insists on mentioning surface rust on springs and suspension arms in the advisories. Could be an issue if I were aiming to sell it.

I had a couple of advisories on my previous MOT that weren't mentioned at all this year. Seems to be completely at the whim of the tester.

I had an advisory saying brake discs pitted and worn, and then no mention of it in the following 6 MoTs despite that I haven't changed the discs!

Hi , I have the same issue with my car regarding discs / pads and very time I go into my local MB garage for it annual service they state you will need discs / pads at the next service. The script selling has been performed on me for the last four years.

I asked my local garage as to the life left in pads / discs and they said at least 5000 miles.

Mercedes likely think more then as the standard service interval will be much greater than 5,000 miles.

Doesn’t the main dealer send you a video explaining the percentage wear and remaining life?

They do it as part of the visual health check completed every time a car goes in the workshop and it’s estimated to the nearest 20%.

Washed and waxed swmbo's 246

Fitted 12V and USB outlets in the boot and the handy little pull down hook that you hang carrier bags on to stop stuff rolling about. It was actually for an E-class, but with a bit of R n D it works fine in the CLK.

Hi Bobby Dazzler , unfortunately have received a couple of underbody condition checks and that's it.

Do they have your email address to send the link to? I’m surprised they don’t do it.

From memory, are you Worcester-ish? I thought the ex-Drayton (now Lookers) dealerships all did the video health checks.

Hit a pot hole and ripped the sidewall of the tyre. Fortunately close to home so made it back. Took the wheel to Kwik Fit who confirmed the tyre was a write off - I’ve got their tyre insurance, new tyre at zero cost.

Sorry to hear what’s happened but have it replaced at no cost sounds like the best outcome 👍🏻

Hi , you are correct with Worcester.

Lookers performed the B service on my car ( on a service plan ) but did not change the brake fluid ( Mercedes would not authorise ) because I booked the car in to early.

To be be fair to Lookers they did change the brake fluid a few days later.

No sign of video though.

Called out Mercedes Assist today. Wiper on passenger side was not working. "Have you had a new windscreen recently?" the fitter asked over the phone. " Yes" I replied.
" That's an easy one then".
When he arrived he lifted the bonnet and showed me that the securing nuts on the wiper arms were not even finger tight ! Locktight and a spanner soon had it fixed, it's a very regular occurrence apparently.
Sigh of relief, we're off to France tomorrow.

Watched rain bouncing off it all day, then jumped into it for spirited drive to collect a Thai takeaway, and a more sedate drive back. Thai takeaway now taken care of.

😁 Nothing beats a takeaway meal on Friday evening 😎 think you’ve tempted me now!

A more traditional Fish and Chips for me tonight.
