What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Took one for service at a new main dealer. It was the Mercedes-AMG ForFour Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi powered by Brabus, and yes I know what you’re thinking, a normal AMG service centre really can service it.

The previous Smart dealer appears to have become Mercedes only so I took the opportunity to use a different one closer to our new home. Considering I used the last 13 years ago so they don’t know me from Adam, the service was pretty good.

It was the final service on a service care plan and they were really really pushing renewing it there and then for next year. I forgot to ask them not to wash it, so they did but it was a fairly good job.

New tyres and four wheel alignment is required next but the tyres are a very unusual size and staggered, so finding a matching set may not be straight forward. Job for another day.

I saw the new Smart #1 for the first time too, but I don’t have time to have a proper snoop. It would be interesting to have a look inside and maybe even have a road test. EV only now.

Went back to MB Brooklands to get the panoramic roof cleaned and lubricate, when it was serviced by them a few weeks back, they said it didn’t require doing, on the ESS which I had, showed it needed doing and at every 3 years. Didn’t have time to argue with them at that time, sent a few emails back when I got home, and their reply was to ‘pacify me’ they would book me in to complete it FOC.

Actually used the cup holder when I stopped for lunch, I was so proud of myself

I'm impressed you can use you cupholders for the intended purpose; when I cleaned out Mrs Spiky's Leon at the weekend, the cupholders contained £1.30 in change, half a packet of Trebor Softmints, 5 old car park tickets, a USB plug (and cable) and half a dozen Kirby Grips .

😁👏😂👍

Bought the CLK a little present of two rear brake disc splash shields ready for the park brake and discs job. Just incase they are shot, they look OK from the back so I may not need to change them ?

Service & MOT on our car plus:

  • New front discs and pads,
  • Replacement puddle light bulbs,
  • Replacement drives door handle bulb,
  • New battery,
  • 2 new front tyres,
  • Passenger seat base extender fixed.
Ooch, it’s gonna hurt! 🥴🙄🫣

best that you practice "assuming the position" now Ant😨

I too had mine in for MoT and service plus new front discs and pads.

I found a jetwash yesterday and got rid of nearly two week's worth and 750 miles of grime. I'd forgotten just how powerful the French ones are compared to the relatively weedy UK ones; this one actually cleaned the brake dust off the inside rims of the Style IV's. Happy days.

One of the things that had been bugging me about Google Maps is that, unlike Waze, it doesn't automatically show the speed limit/your speed - at least not on mine. Waze makes it easy in that it show the speed limit where you are and the band around changes from black to red when you go over it. Handy.

I did some Googling and saw that some people had managed to get Maps to show both the speed limit and speed side by side. After more research I found the setting for Speedometer and turned it to On. Bingo. Now all I have to do is see if the Speed Limit will also show. For some reason on mine it only shows in mine once I am (i) on the move and (ii) have gone into the settings menu. Quite why this makes it appear I don't know; will have a poke about later.

For anyone interested here's how to get all your Google location services and speedo set up on an Android.

'Tis a fine looking wagon, even 'avec bicyclette'

Coded puddle lights to come on when locking/unlocking the car at night. They were installed but not enabled.

Coded the outside Temp to remain on instead of KPH. All done using Topdon Phoenix lite 2.

Removed curbing and repainted my rear alloy with 2K clear coat.

Painted my callipers.
