What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Would that have been Steve Thompson Cars?
I badly lusted for a Polar White Manta i300. The colour combination with those Irmscher graphics looked soooo good. Although IIRC you could also get a full Rothmans Rally decal set. Wouldn't be allowed now.
Ah, me lost youth 😞
Boom 💥

They looked after my Vauxhalls when I grew up too. Yes there was a subtle Rothmans colour options with just the lower edge if the car along the line of the sills.

Took the old girl out and noticed a nice crack on the windscreen! Booked to get a replacement , appt in a couple of weeks

Drove from Cowbridge to home 40 miles in 51 mins,42.8 mpg,the extra minute was due to a meandering cyclist, with 4 cars behind him. When my turn came to overtake,I was only 200 yds from where I needed to turn off.🙂 So I didn't bother!

Doesn’t it give a bit of a ‘inside a fridge’ vibe? I changed the lights on my old bmw once and after a long night drive, turning the car off felt very cold and harsh.

I'd say the photo I posted probably makes the LED look colder than it really is and the original look warmer than it is. The LED light is pretty neutral really, more to my preference; I felt like the OE bulbs gave a light that reminded me of old sodium street lights.

Actually this was a Fri morning task when I washed the sand off the car less than 24 hours after I gave her a good wash. Thu afternoon pre rinse, snow foam, rinse snow foam, two bucket wash then dry with two towels and a blower and full wax and tyre black gel applied. Parked her up and gave her an admiring glance as I walked into the house to have a glass (or three) of a nice red and went to bed. Woke up Fri morning to a spotty car so not best pleased. Was due to drive a 500 mile round trip for two uni visits so was out with the snow foam again before we set off. Happily the wax made removing the sand a whole lot easier. No need for any microfibre mitten use at all. Dried her off with a "spirited" drive round our local ring road and all done before 8am.
Now just need to figure out why the drivers door remote boot release isn't working which I've started another thread about so fingers crossed I can sort that easily.

Had 2 new Michelin Pilot Sport 4s fitted to the rears. Initial impressions...very positive..but will need to drive for longer to get a proper feel for them

I had the rears replaced with Falken Azensis run flats on mine as part of the deal and they are very good. Quiet too which is nice. Grippy for when the demand is needed and for such a big car I can confirm they grip really well. Has Radar on the front which depsite my reservations seem to be a decent budget tyre too although I will likely replace them with Falkens when the time comes.
Heard great things about the Michelins though so nice to hear you approve of them too.

Thanks, I was tempted to go for cheaper tyres but decided it's probably not the right thing to do on an S Class !...there were a couple of really good deals on Michelins so it made it an easy decision to go for them. Even though I will never get close the limits of them, I had read goods things regarding ride and refinement - my top priority's on this type of car. The fronts are Nexen's that came with the car when i bought it and whilst they are extremely hard wearing, 5mm tread remaining after almost 30k miles , the new Michelins on the back do make them feel a bit inferior !..but will stick with them until they're worn out.

Yep I agree on the not skimping on tyres. As for you I'll stick with the Radars on the front until they need changing. Would be tempted by Micehlins if there's an offer on at the time but the Falkens are good so far. As ever time will tell as to how long they last but I would always go with a grippier tyre (therefore more costly) than a longer lasting cheaper and usually harder tyre which can be "interesting" in the wet.
