What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Noticed on the tracker app that I hadn't driven the SL in two weeks so went for a 50 mile drive along some fast A roads and country lanes, quick coffee in a pub then a spirited drive back. Safely away in the garage again now.

Similar story here except my driving for the last few weeks has been entirely stop/start city traffic. So I went for an entirely unnecessary drive in the clear and sunny weather. A bit of higher speed Peak District stuff and a cruise back on the motorway. Should have blown out the cobwebs and I know my CLK will feel better for it when I jump back in today or tomorrow. Averaged a smidge over 30mpg too which I think is very good for a 20 year old V6.

Took the old girl out for her weekly run. I have been thinking of moving her on as I hardly use her now but once I start driving I change my mind. I absolutely love driving her and I would miss her.

One thing that she needs is some body work done but I don't have anyone that I know and trust to be able to do it. It'll get worse and be more of an issue if I don't get it sorted.

There's a small crack in the windscreen that I think may fail on the MOT, but to replace it will only be possible once the rust around the screen is sorted. Bit of a catch 22!

Fitted a new fuel filler cap and unblocked a drain hole on the lhs of the windscreen scuttle panel.

Rock and roll.

Took one to the main dealer to I. Estimate a fault again, only to be told that there’s a “bit” missing and the only way to get one is to buy a bigger bit and remove just the “bit” I need and transfer it to my car. The work of seconds but a huge bill for a part I don’t need.

Driving one to and from the dealer today and I’m sure an articulated lorry driver decided that didn’t like the look of me - or more likely my car - because he would drift right (quite significantly) whenever I was half-way passing him.

It’s a very low car and I had the roof open, so drifting right wasn’t pleasant, nor was him using his headlamp wash jets whenever the front of my car crept up to his cab door, covering the car in screenwash (thankfully it didn’t come inside).

I actually think he has done it before, likely several times. The direction of the headlamp wash jet - combined with using it twice at precisely the right moment around ten minutes apart - makes me think he knew exactly what he was doing.

Sounds like a right, @rsehole!
🤬

Had reason to drive four seasons in one day.

I mean four AMG engines in one day, all back to back too: M113, M156, M157 and M178. All similar, and all different. All very moreish, and all sound wonderfully AMG.

AMG really do know how to make cracking engines. I don’t know how people have a specific favourite, my favourite was whichever engine was in the car I was driving.

I haven’t driven the Mercedes-AMG ForFour Black Series Track Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi powered by Brabus today though, so that will be my favourite as soon as I do.

Took my C220 in for airbag recall, kindly declined the ECU update for fuel management and was told I needed to replace the whole front anti roll bar to repair a slight leak on the drop link.

Fitted a Bluetooth adapter to stream music from my phone. The jack plug is in the glovebox and the 12v socket is right beneath so it took seconds to install. It works beautifully too, all for £8 delivered 12 hours after ordering. It even looks lovely too (albeit hidden in the glovebox).

It doesn’t t have cup holders either so I bought an absolutely horrible amooth and shiny aftermarket twin cup holder which slits between the centre console and the seat. Blooming horrible but fits perfectly so I’ll keep it in the boot until I need it. I might even get it retrimmed in OE leather 🤔

The passenger side washer jet packed in last weekend. Being a bit fussy, I thought I'd replace both of them.
Oh, and on the 32 they're heated, so that was £66 I won't see again

Hi Bobby Dazzler:

By any chance can you remember who the hauliers name on the lorry.

Has happened to me on one occasion and I contacted the haulage company and spoke to the MD of the company who was not impressed with his driver's action.

I can’t, it wasn’t a name I recognised. I’m pretty sure that it was a lime powder processing business from the Manchester area if I remember right.

AMG door pins arrived, and yes they are genuine MB
I’d be interested to hear how you get on fitting them.
