What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Just got the car back from Millenium Mercedes Bedford. Wing mirror fixed and MoT Passed with no advisories. Happy to keep up the run of every MoT passed and it has never had an advisory too. :)

Just turned over 90k miles today. Low mileage for an E-Class.

No advisories ever, impressive. 🙂👍

Just home from collecting the S204 after repair, MoT station just down the road so called in, and got MoT retest (free) immediately, same tester as Saturday. PASS - with only the couple of minor advisories. Phew!!

well I've finally received my scanning tool today, so was able to diagnose the airbag light, turns out its a front left crash sensor, also replacing a coil on cyl6 as it started acting up, just waiting for torque wrench to arrive)
however since my last post I did (well not all me personally but mostly lovely chaps at brothers performance):
2 oil changes
new CSF radiator
new tires
new front struts and mounts/bearings.
new coolant pump
oil pump solenoid deactivation ( highly recommend) not sure why but I mostly notice much smoother cold start and crispier shifts.

Received mine back from the repair shop after someone tore a hole in the back end
And looking good 👍

Today I'm going to wash off and hoover out the Malvern dirt from last weekend's trip ready for a trip to Leeds.

I had the C200 Kompressor on charge today.
It has a small parasitic battery discharge and I just need to watch it carefully in this cold weather when it's not had a lot of use.
Job for when it's warmer.

At the same time, I changed the power steering oil ......... MB Pt. No: A001 989 24 03 10
It's probably never been done before I got the car.

I forgot to post it yesterday, but my car clicked over 132,000 miles as I pulled on the drive yesterday. It’s the highest mileage car I’ve ever had. Blooming love it too. Oddly I’m using it more now than I ever have too, despite having been in retirement for four years!

It’s still for sale though right??? 🤷‍♂️

😁

Ordered Brembo front pads, serpentine idler and PAS reservoir with filter. All for stock to sit on the shelf with the other piles of parts. Next job is to change rear suspension links and fit Eibach adjustable camber bushings to cure the inner edge tyre wear problem.

Went and looked into the local MG dealership today to see what management thought of the MG ZS, so may soon be looking to offload the s204 - but looking online at the stupidly low valuations of the SW204 that may not happen!! Cannot believe how low the online valuations for our top spec s204 are!

Took the SLK55 AMG in for the new radiator to be fitted and got an unexpected call to say the bottom hose assembly has seized so It requires a new 1 direct order from Germany with a hideous cost of £186+ VAT 😳 add that to the jag tyre and its not bin a very good week 🙂

Taking mine for a mini valet to shift any road salt it may have picked up. I try and avoid using it when the gritters are about, but got a sprinkling from Spreddie Flintoff the other day.

It dawned on me today - when I received a calendar reminder for the MOT - that since I put new all season tyres on it at the end of August, I have not driven my Mercedes-AMG ForFour AMG Sport Plus Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi facelift powered by Brabus.

Even though it hadn’t been on a battery conditioner - the one I have set up for that parking position has stopped working - it burst into life without hesitation. That in itself is remarkable because the battery is the same size as the battery back-up for our home alarm siren.

She was serviced just a few weeks before I parked her so she’s got fresh fluids and I think spark plugs too IIRC. She was detailed (outside only) a few days before I parked, and apart from leaves on the scuttle and a fresh-ish bird poo she looks great too - super glossy finish.

So I removed the leaves, topped up the tyre pressures, set the time, wiped down the interior and took her into town and then for quite a long run to blow out the cobwebs. Cracking little car, and I enjoyed driving her every bit as much as when my mate Dave let’s me drive something a little spicier.

Keep an eye on middle of Lidl, I bought one of their battery charger/conditioner toys a couple of years ago for a princely £14.99 and it's kept the SLK happy since - but then the toy spends a lot of time in her garage with the conditioner connected! I gather from the experience of others that the Lidl conditioner is either fine or craters within 3 years (although their CS/warranty stuff is excellent, I've had a couple of their Parkside toys replaced without problem) plus if you get a power cut it does not reset when the power comes back on, so you have to manually reset it. Not had a problem with that despite a couple of power cuts since I started using it.
