What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Not today but yesterday.

Oil and oil filter change. Belly panels were awkward to remove!!!

Panoramic sunroof service (well a decent attempt at it) using a guide someone has put up on another post and YouTube. Used the MB stuff from eBay, £14 for lip balm size pot of the grease and 10ml of the lubricant.
If your using the roof alot then it's a good idea , if not then I'd recommend just using a white lithium grease , my roof still working fine 4 years later on the e350.

Had the 2015 c200 for about 2 weeks now. Got the intelligent light. Wasn’t that impressed. It was bright. Nothing intelligent about it.

Today I realised it wasn’t switched on. Pushed the stalk back and WOW
It’s unbelievable.

Bought a replacement used air con control module for the 212 to see if that fixes the issue. (Intermittent cooling and error saying insufficient current). I checked power to the module and that matches battery voltage so assume the issue is with the module. Quite pleased I’m learning how to use my multimeter more!

Deciding whether to get the wheels refurbed. I’m in that tricky situation where the car doesn’t owe me anything now which is just as well as it’s almost worthless being a non ULEZ diesel. But it is great for what I use it for, though it’s starting to get ever more expensive to maintain it seems and it’s just starting to look slightly tatty on the outside (by my standards at least) with the wheels and stone chips.. So do I cut my losses and just get something else? I admit to having a sneaky look at Volvo V90’s. Surprisingly sluggish though in petrol form from what I’ve seen so far.

I've always really liked the looks of the later V90 ... just a bit big for us. Of course Volvo have stopped selling estate cars in the UK, so I would guess that prices for good used ones will remain strong. I would certainly be looking at petrol rather than diesel, but higher performance ones (assuming these exist!) would likely be super rare.

Well, replacement air con module fitted and so far no fault codes and everything working so fingers crossed! Have to say the iCarsoft has paid for itself many times over. Even if it doesn’t tell you the exact fault, as in this case it can really help to point you in the right direction. 👍

Updated the Sat Nav Map on the SLK.

Had 2016/17 maps on it
Now 2022/23 which I am advised is it for this Comand NTG4.5
As it doesn't have Car Play or AA upgrade path (that isn't £799 and OEM) it seems the good use of £70

Over an hour idling on the drive though.....

Not bad for £70! Link please?

Had two washed ready for an event next week. Shame it was raining throughout so they won’t be at their best. Had to give up before the second car was finished because the rain really started coming down.

Washed car in the rain. Timed the wash when the down pour was the heaviest, holding umbrella with one hand and wash mit on the other, with two bucket method. Unlike tap water, rain water leaves no limescale. When the rain stopped, dried with large towel leaving it spotless 😁

I like to wash our caravan in the rain, in part for that reason, and in part because it means I don’t have to go backwards and forwards quite so much to fetch more water. I do it flip flops and swimming trunks too, for obvious reasons. I must look as mad as a hatter!

I was wearing welly boots and an anorak, after that the neighbour across the road came out to wash their car but missed the heaviest down pour. Its amazing to see the windscreen and glass work streek free, great results 😁
