What MPG are people getting?

Can honestly say I get the same ish miles ever time I fill up with 95 Ron, V power or ultimate.

210 ish to a tank on my daily commutes.

It can take a couple of tankfuls to get the timing back to normal when using 98ron, however, it only takes a 1/8 tank of 95 to get it knocked back again.

There was some graphs on the C63 posted a while back, it was a big hit, something like 35bhp loss. Also around 10% loss in MPG too, so no financial benefit to running 95ron.

S203 220 CDi 38 urban,41 (just) on motorways . Considering remap or box but can't make my mind up.

Strange, 41 on motorways?

I used to see 60+ sat at 75mpg and 55mpg sat at 80mph no problem.

My 2006 C320 cdi sort estate has just returned 41mpg over the last tank.

You getting up to 90ºc OK, and is it staying there?

I was being sarcastic about feeling floaty. I meant the nitogen must have made the car really light to get 33% better MPG. :D

You sure they haven't just filled them to max pressures when filling with nitrogen?

How are you finding it coming from the BMW?

Did you ever run the 1 Series on proper tyres?
I loved our 120 and 123 M-Sports when we got them on proper tyres, hated them on run flats.

Oh haha! My bad [emoji15]

The one series was the best car I've had so far! I did change over from RFT to non RFT about two years into ownership and it was amazing ti feel some sort of comfort in the car. The m sport had a spine shattering ride. Unlucky for me and the car, a few month after spending £500 on new tyres it ended up in a lamppost :-( the odd fitment for the back tyre made it a nightmare getting tyres are a good price! I settled with some Hankook Ventus Evo's which were ordered from a German company called tyre leader. (Not a bad choice for the price)

I love the Mercedes but it's a far more grown up drive to the BMW and scirocco. I actually don't feel massively comfortable with taking corners at speed in the Merc, probably just the size of it though! I would prefer heavier steering though, can this be altered using star?

Some of these MPG figures are great. On a 300 mile round trip, I managed 41 MPG in my diesel Audi A6, mostly cruising at the speed limit on the motorway and dual carriageway. Much much better than our other cars, but well short of what is achieved by others here.

Just swapped my 2004 CLK320 Cabrio for an E350 CGI Cabrio so I can give a full report of the fuel consumption of the CLK.

The tank was filled to first cut-off whenever fuel was added which makes the "Per Tank" figures reasonably accurate whilst the "Overall" was total miles divided by total fuel.

The massive variations in the "Per Tank" figures just goes to show how unreliable short-term mpg figures are!

I have done a couple of tanks in my E350 CGI petrol S212 estate now.

So far it seems that no matter how good I start off, or how badly it drops, by the end of the tank it hits 29.4 on the OBC, and 30.5 calculated, which makes a nice change.

The E350 CDI diesel used to show 34mpg on the OBC and work out at just under 33mpg as a comparison, so there is less than 10% difference going from the 3 litres diesel to the 3.5 litre petrol. More than happy with that.

I like to see hard data !

I found the same thing over 20 years of measuring MPG in the same way on my 190e. In hindsight it took 6 years of data before a reliable average MPG emerged.

You need to use the tank to tank method. Fill tank to brim, drive several hundred miles and fill to brim again, do the math, how many miles, convert liters to gallons and...

Ideally I'd suggest getting a smart phone app (loads that are free or <£1) and recording all fill up's over 1000 - 2000 miles for accurate result with mixed driving.

I've just got an E320 (W211) - early indications 34mpg but not enough miles yet. On-board computer seems reasonably accurate, way more accurate then on the Saab 95 I had previously.

my e class coupe 350cdi is averaging 32.5mpg , and the car is driven "enthusiastically" , with mostly local driving , no doubt i could squeeze a few more mpg if i tried , but i didnt buy a 265bhp car for the economy , and the mid range performance is negligible in difference with my C32 which is lucky to see 20mpg on a sedate run.

C32 AMG V6 Kompressor petrol. 25MPG on a good day.

maybe i should try driving in my carpet slippers !!, My C32 is lucky to see 20mpg on Shell V power , and its recently had a full service , new plugs, coils and recon injectors

I have been hooning the E350cgi today for 40 miles and it returned 28.8mpg.

More than happy with that.

Today I did 53 miles of mixed driving. 40 motorway, 13 round town. Overall average 17.4 mpg.

My OBC is about 5.5% over optimistic to manually calculated.

had a test drive in a couple of 350cgi cars ,before i went for the 350cdi , and it was a lovely smooth engine , but if found it didnt really do much under 3,000 revs , obviously a vvti engine , but when you ring its neck , it was a flying machine . Nearly 29mpg from a petrol 3.5ltr V6 is commendable , and confirms how efficient new petrol engines have become , (i had an older version of this engine in a Chrysler 300c , it was a heavy lump and it was gutless and drank fuel , needless to say , it didnt last long in my ownership)

I hired a 5.7L V8 300c on holiday and even though it was a heavy lump and poorly constructed, by the standards of my 190e it was awesome. The cylinder shut down facility enabled it to do 30MPG if you took it easy.

Happy compared with my Jag

I do a mixture of motorway and town driving and get between 33 - 38MPG depending on my right foot which I am pleased with for a 3 litre. The merc is significantly faster than my previous S Type diesel and also far more economical to run.

Isle of Skye to Manchester on Wednesday
Almost 9 hrs with a few stops
Very impressed!
