What MPG are people getting?

Cruise depends on how busy the road is and whether you have to overtake or brake before you can pull out.

If you can just set it an not touch any pedals for miles then it will be more efficient on the flat. On a down hill you would manually just release the throttle (maybe letting the speed rise a little) and control the speed that way, the cruise tends to use the brakes to control it which is less efficient.

So, I don;t think there is a straight answer, I tend to use a mix of both depending on the situation and the traffic ahead.

I average around 20mpg. Have seen 28.5 on motorway.

Got 8.3 average at Oulton park track day on Tuesday.

2008 E280 W211. It has averaged 36.2 over the last 6978 miles. Motorway journey over 165 miles at 70 returns 44.5.

Round town is about 32.

Have an A180 CDI (manual box) as a courtesy car whilst mine gets repaired.

Had as much at 78.8 mpg on the OBD and regularly get well over 60 mpg.

Very impressed and this wee car is slowly growing on me.

Still want mine back .... Scheduled for next week :-)

I get 15-19 mpg in town and got 23 mpg on my last trip to Brands Hatch! Will confirm again after my re-map to see if this improves on similar journeys.

I tend to drive like a doctor on call so no doubt could improve with more patience :wallbash:

Sport x vito weighing in at 2700kg. Round trip from Northampton to reading returned 40.1 mpg!!

I run a 2013 c350cdi estate, mostly motorway miles up n down the M6, not slow and not fast, use small petrol car for short journeys at the weekend as the V6 diesel takes around 20-30 miles to start giving good mpg, been running the 'Road trip' app since I got it with 7k on the clock averaging 43 overall now with 53k on the clock; winter tyres Nov-Mar.
Would not change the V6 for much else at the moment..!

I am gobsmacked and impressed with my C220 . I don't hang about but it still returns over 40 around town and on a run (I regularly do a 140 mile each way M1 trip) 50 plus is easily achievable using cruise control at ahemmmm.....cruise speed.

I have had an overall 57 out of it on that run but that's a one off record. Its usually 53 for some reason.

43.6, it appears after a long weekend away. Saying that, although I was careful off the motorway to keep acceleration etc reasonable...that is not the case on motorway where, let's just say it was long way and i really did not want to be driving for ages.

Overall, I am very happy with that mpg when I know I can easily improve on that. :-)

Having done manual MPG calculations, I find to get an accurate trip computer reading in my car I need to reduce the MPG figure by 6.5%

Accurate or not.....still nearly double the miles than my old car managed :-)

The 43 mpg is based on real data and entered on the 'Road Trip' app, the comand system rekons on 47.9 which is a bit optimistic

I'm finding the MPG display to be within 2 or 3 % of reality especially on long motorway runs. Just did 47.9 MPG on the M62 across the Pennines. On more level motorways it would have been above 50 MPG. That's one thing that the MPG display tells you; hills burn fuel.

What do you reckon is the most economical way of driving up hills ?

Stay in 6th and keep the speed up ?

W220 S350, About 25mpg

W211 270 intake manifold without flapers 40 mpg average, 65mpg in highway 32mpg city driving.

I get around 38-45 mpg over a tank of fuel with varied driving, that's in a 2012 C350 CDI. I generally do longish trips (20+ miles) but the roads don't really lend themselves to economy - lots of hills.

I will note that my car over-reads by 10% vs. my own fuel in, miles out calculation. It used to be just 1-2% out, but I made the mistake of mentioning getting slightly lower MPG to my servicing dealer and their solution was to tweak something on the computer lol.

Note: if I drive in super-mellow mode I can see a genuine 50+ mpg on the same trips.

Scoob.

Same trip up and back this week, car at 30k now, averaged at 51 mpg.
