salary.............a fraction of what others earn here but who cares, I am happy.

I worked in the forces at S.H.A.P.E. in Belgium for three years in charge of the body work to the staff cars, which just happen to be Mercs of all variants. Told the wife that one day I would have one of those. Saw one in local "Arthurs" and bought it. Then dog car blew up, so went and rescued a 200T from ebay. I have to admit to enjoying taking them to bits myself when they ail and sorting them out. There are many people here who have unwittingly helped me in this task and others who have wittingly helped me. Went to the GTG feeling that I may have been out of place....................BUT NO, Great people, good atmosphere and everyone willing to talk to anyone about anything. The car does not matter, its the people who drive them. Sorry this has been so long, just felt I had to get it off my chest before going to work.

Great Story Ian!

You are a True Enthusiast...the love of your Car, overides the love of Money, it must be a Northern thing.

Sorry, knew I'd offend people but I'm not going to pretend I'm a lifelong Mercedes enthusiast and have only had 1 before, a rather dull 96 C200 sport. My heart belongs to Jaguar and my head to BMW (had 3 of each) and, though I really like this car, I never have the same car twice consecutively and I doubt that any other Mercedes will be at the top of my wishlist in 2yrs time.

Having said that, if I had the money I would love a CL or an SL

Cheers

Have had loads of cars to date, but mercs for my last 3!
Still have 2 of them, and very happy with them too. Not one of my friends think they are a "old man's car", but I can agree with Bloodmoon. I do get some strange looks from people as if to say you have stolen/borrowed/using your parents car etc - Usually ignore them and put it down to jealousy/envy.
Cheers,
Will

these are the cars that ive previously owned and have moulded me into mercedes ownership >>>

Nissan Micra << The Devils tool ...!
Renault 19 << this car had a degenerating dash !
BMW 318i <<nice car didnt have any oomph !
Nissan almera gti (I had an accident with a merc S class ! )
Nissan sunny << bad mistake !

....now let me take out all the almera gti drivers out there !

*shudder* Then you better delay fixing your wheel nuts for the time being ;)

I suppose if you fall on ultra-hard times you could always live in your merc.

Best thing about mobile accomodation is that if you don't like your neighbours - you simply drive away....

...hello?

*sigh*

When I was looking at buying a BMW 325 coupe my wife said that I looked like a Moss Side crack dealer in it as I am shaven headed, heavily tattooed and look mean (also a black belt in full contact kickboxing and have studied many martial arts over the last 15 years) any way does that answer what type of yob I mean person drives a Merc, it takes all sorts!

Needed a 5-door estate (1x2 year old kid, 1 dog, 1 cat, etc, etc ....)

Unfortunately could not get the childseat on the parcel shelf on the TVR so it had to go. Got a mondeo as a stop gap until the right 5-door Scooby Turbo came along.

So so very nearly bought a Volvo T5-R but then saw the MB on ebay. No brainer.
