Yorkshire YOMP 2012 - Driving Tour

Ian, I'll probably join you at Skipton as its only 20 mins from me. The Ribblehead run is a great drive, just watch out for bikers :)

I think the plughole on the other (west) side of the dam wall is more daunting. You can peer over into it from the roadside wall, which gives a better (if that's the right word...) view down its mouth.

Sounds like a cracking route Ian. Looking forward to this very much. :thumb:

Stage one of the tour to wet your appetite

The "Strines Pass" you only get to do this one if you stay near me the night before :D

This would be the one. I remember it clearly and I was about 4 years old at the time...

For some reason this has reminded me of a boating holiday on the Shropshire Union and Llangollen canals. I think it was going over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct looking over the edge.

It's only 126' tall, but riding on a boat in an iron trough with a 4" ledge does focus the mind of an 8-10 year old...you get subliminal messages like..."don't fall off the boat"...

So we're going to miss the Tan Hill Inn but not by much.

Not been before, just one to tick off the list... :D

It was a tough call to be honest, The Green Dragon Pub with Hardraw Force waterfall or the Tan Hill Pub which is the highest pub in England and both of them not very far apart.

I just thought the Green Dragon with the waterfall and 15 acres of grounds would just possibly have something for everybody :dk:

How near are you talking about...is this the reward after the pain...

That's some CB aerial you've got on your car...

The Strines Pass runs between A616 just after Stocksbridge and The A57 Snake Pass so is the logical way to Ladybower if you are coming from the Barnsley/Rotherham/Doncaster side>

Actually we might do another pass the night before, The Khyber Pass in Barnsley, cracking Indian restaurant :D

Cracking Pics DM thanks for posting them

They aren't my pictures, I have these visions imprinted in my subconscious...

Curry. Excellent news...

I mentioned this tour to my friend and if he's not working, he'd like to attend as well if that's all right. He doesn't get enough chance to drive his car how it's meant to be driven, so this would be a great opportunity to do so.

Only thing is that he drives an Audi......;)

No problem at all the more the merrier, but could you add his name to the list even if it is only provisional and vote on a date.

It's not an MB exclusive event so any car welcome, not decided which one I'm going to use yet, choice will depend on weather for me :)

Anyone taking their other halves or will I be the only one with wife in tow?

I'm certainly interested if there are a few others taking their other halves as Angie and I will make a weekend of it, but she's reluctant to come if it's just a "boy's day out" and she'd be the only one there.
