I have also been across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, but on foot. I think you had the good end of the deal if you went across by boat. Did you see how narrow the path was, and how many of the railing supports had crumbled away? Then there were the holes in the path...

I don't think the wives/girlfriends thing is anything to worry about. Having experienced several 'do's when only one WAG attended, there was never any problem of feeling like a spare part. Not that was admitted to anyway.

We can still provide plenty of crude jokes and innuendo if they think they will be missing out! (Unless that's exactly what they're afraid of!)

I'm going to head to York day after to see my mate as in area. I'd recommend Ruswarp Hall as a good place to stay with a sense of occasion. That's where I'll book into

Stage 3

Hi All

Been out on a bit of a rekki today for stage 3 which is the one straight after lunch and starts with the Buttertubs pass, then through Swaledale, up onto the North Yorkshire moors and on to the afternoon coffee stop at Helmsley. A bit out of order as I have not done stage 2 yet, but wanted to get the hard parts of the route sorted first.

A few pics below. Apologies for the sizes although I managed to shrink the fie size I appear not to be that good at getting them all to the same dimensions
