1998 W202 C230 Kompressor - Speedo Bulb Colour Mods?

Hi all

Ive just been looking at some pics on the forum and google, and have noticed that people have managed to change the colour of the display that shows the mileage on the instrument cluster.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how this is done and is it just a matter of changing a bulb somewhere or is it more complicated, also the costs would be appreciated.

Im particularly fond of the purpleish colour that KillerHertz has (you can see it in his pictures) but im also considering a nice blue.

I would like to keep the rest of the dials and lighting as it is (unless someone has a really eye catching display...in which case send me some pics!)

Hi,

Sorry I havent gotten back to you by PM. The purple-ish colour in this photo is just the Liquid Crystal display in a certain light (bright sunlight in this case) & A certain angle. and it was backlit as my headlights were on.

The Display is exactly the same as yours (except for being a sport and more orange-y), not modded in any way.
Any LCD will appear purple in certain lights

hi Kal6383 i have looked into this an into changing the astual speedo cluster colour!
it depends on what year your car is! as there is a change in the cluster!

Hey Guys,

Thank you for the assistance.

I will get hold of some bulbs and take it to my local vehicle electrics center and see how they come up.

I too have a Sports Kompressor so dials are exactly the same as yours KillerHertz, that purple look does really look stunning and if I can replicate it or a blue colour it will be great.

as iv gota do the same! wel im changing just the back light not the LCD display!
