Average mpg

So I suppose the thermostat should remain closed when the engine is started from cold until up to operating temperature, and then once this is reached, it opens and closes to keep engine at optimum operating temperature?
Apart from the jiggle pin allowing a very small amount through, when closed, that's pretty much it, except it really opens enough to keep the engine at optimum.
When fully open, if the passage of air through the radiator isn't enough then the electric or viscous fan more or less controls the temperature.
Other than a small bleed, the top hose should remain cool until up to temperature and then suddenly feel hot as the stat opens.

W204 Estate c220cdi apr 2011

For the last 39000km my W204 reports 4.9l/100km (57mpg) mainly driven in France. Car has 56kms total.

Canot read all that but if someone is collecting data
All OBC.

C220 BE Estate
On a run 61 mpg
Around town - was around 40 mpg, but down to around 35 since MB fixed the stop start by almost disabling it.
Mixed commute gets ~42 mpg.

It would be nice to have a MPG meter that actually worked to work out the best speed etc - thanks MB!

Run some injector cleaner through it.

Is that your answer for everything? You must be drinking the stuff the amount you go on about it.
