C350e owners club

I know I should (purely for the resale value) ... it's having a private plate anyway.

... but I want to go play with the Merc !

Boot is Tiny (compared to my Octavia Hatch - and even smaller than my octy estate!!).
We are away this weekend, but only for one night, so I hope the boot can cope. I am going to empty it except for the charging cables (last time I emptied the boot, I took the cable out so I was unable to charge at the services!!!)

Bam... a 78 year old man crashed into my car (17 days old)
I kinda hate everything now.

Is there anybody out there?

So unlucky Snowman.. you might as well scrap the thing now

Before you take delivery, make sure it has had the software update for external temperature display. Dave's you taking it back....make sure your charge cable is the latest upgraded sealed weatherproof plug and rear socket. Make sure the heater booster problem has been eradicated. Make sure you ask about any reported high voltage short circuit problems and corrective action having been carried out. Mine has been in the garage for 3 weeks and found out today it won't be back till 26th Feb....that's 4 and a half weeks of software updates, problem diagnosis and waiting for parts from Germany. Apparently, new charge cables in stock this week and heater boosters next week....nightmare...if I could cancel I would...

I have exactly the same problem with the charger (heater seems OK). Mine has been at the dealers 3 weeks now, was told last week, one or two weeks and I'll have it back.

Rang for an update this afternoon and told the part will not be available until mid March at the earliest as it was being re-designed and would then need thorough testing before being put into production.

Initially I assumed there had been a bad batch of charger cables/sockets but it's now looking like every car could potentially have the same problem

Need some advise please - C350e owner

Hi guys... New to the site. I've just taken delivery of my C350E and some help with home chargers. ChargeMaster are charging £395 whilst Rolec are quoting £195 on their website?

Any advise please?

David, mine is going in on March 9th to investigate the problem that stopped it charging via the socket this week. How was car affected?

Mine tripped the RCD on the Rolec socket and showed a fault light on the 13A lead controller. I've tried leads from a workmates 350e so I know it's not the leads. It's charging ok from the engine though so I'm hoping it's just a dodgy socket in the bumper.

If they find a problem with my car I'll be wanting it back until they get the parts in.

I've had a tethered Rolec unit installed for almost a couple of weeks now and it's been absolutely fine. Heard some stories about poor service from charge master so decided against using them.

A week of mixed driving routes....

So 50% of the mileage was from 5 days of local, typically electric driving and the remainder from couple of days of motorway / a-roads including some quite hilly terrain in mostly hybrid mode with the engine running. Pretty good overall for a heavy estate I think..

If they find a problem with my car I'll be wanting it back until they get the parts in.

It started when I noticed that the car wasn't charging when plugged into my Rolec unit at home. There was a red battery symbol lit up next to the socket on the bumper.

When I unplugged the car thought it was still connected to the cable and therefore wouldn't allow me to start or move it.

I called out the very helpful technician who carried out diagnostics and eventually disconnected the lead somewhere under the boot floor. All seemed OK so I went for a drive and a few miles from home it decided to give tell me to return to workshop without changing gear.

Once I got home and switched off the engine the car then thought it was plugged in again.

Technician came back at 07.30 next morning and re-connected the socket. All was OK so we went straight down to the local dealer as the technician had already booked me in. They stripped the unit down and found water inside, causing a short across the contacts.

Then started the long wait for replacement parts.

Anyone else had a power failure?

So my long awaited c350e arrived a couple of weeks ago. For 700 miles, all was fine. This week I tried to start from fully charged on hybrid mode- slightly surprised to find the petrol engine kicked in. Pulled off but decidedly lumpy throttle response, and nothing whatever from the battery despite it showing (for the first time, incidentally) a 15 mile charge. It's gone off to my local MB to see if they can figure it out... anyone else had issues?

Those prices take account of the grant from OLEV. It's £700 at the moment and dropping to £500 on 1st March so you're cutting it a bit fine. I've just had my PodPoint fitted by a local contractor for £260 inc VAT; they handle all the paperwork and the job looks great but I still don't have a car to check it out! The contractor recommended PodPoint over Rolec as they have been experiencing a "spike" in Rolec's unreliability. I went along with their recommendation; who am I to judge if that was genuine or marketing? The "over-the-counter" price of the Pod Point would have been £700 for either the tethered or the socketed version.

Dang, hope that mid March estimate is them being conservative... mine is also laid up at the garage

Although less chance of getting hit, Snowman ouch bad luck

Long tripp for two days, average of 42 mgp.
Aprox 1/3 done without engine.
Half a day in snow.
Most of the trip done with distronic and in comfort.
Me happy about the results in a estate with 279 hp.

Hi All
Ordered a saloon PP on Friday and really looking forward to its arrival!

Snowman - how many miles did you do and what spoeds were you cruising at? Also, did you charge via plug in at any point?

Thanks in advance,
Mathew

Mathew

Distance 730 miles.
No engine 224 miles.
Average speed 45 mph
Up and down mountains 60% of the trip.
20 % motorway.
2 times charging (not to relevant on this kind of distance)
Did the proper math, 25% without engine calculating in the distance with snow.
Aprox 33% on the distance if i exclude the snowy part.
PS all converted from km and liters.

Thought it would be fun to find out the 0-60 time for the c350e running just on electric. I can't find any official figures.

I found a flat bit of road and managed 0-60 in 21 secs. Anyone managed a better time?
