C350e owners club

Hello folks,

Took the plunge and placed an order for the premium package with my leasing company last week as the 5k grant was going to reduce to 2.5k. Looking forward to it in a few months time.

The panoramic sunroof at the passenger seat. Is that lined or exposed? I have been trying to look for pictures/videos for it and it is difficult to say. I have gone for privacy glass so that will alleviate any concerns.

Dave

Congratulations. There is a fabric blind which works as part of the roof mechanism which when closed will cover both glass panels - front and rear.

The privacy glass is very similar to the glass used on the sun roof. Very effective. My recent post from the weekend illustrates this.

Couldn't connect to my vehicle this morning to activate preheat?

Mercedes Me blaming an Internet connection but tried it on different devices without success.

Anyone else had problems?

Yeah likewise.
I tried to set the departure time last night as normal (quite late), and it said the site/app was down for maintenance.
This morning, getting the errors above. So must be an issue/hangover from the maintenance I guess!

I did receive an email earlier in the year about a BIG update to the MercedesMe app and service, so maybe it's on the way...

Typical it's one day with a good bit of frost on the car! I went out and flicked the pre entry switch before I left and that warmed it up quite well.

The parts have arrived!! New heater boaster and charge wiring being fitted and I will receive the car next week (if it passes PDI).

Yes I had this problem too. Was ok a couple of hours later.

Finally got mine on Tuesday after nearly 9 months waiting - fantastic car but with a few foibles. Drove home from the office (around 70 miles) and got around 40mpg with the battery fully charged before I left. Filled up yesterday and have done around 30 miles in total on 2 journeys with the battery charged both times and am getting 62mpg - this is better than my 520d would do on those journeys.

Into London tomorrow so will see how it does. Making a concious effort to drive the same way as I would before to see the comparison.

I have had a play with the gadgets and note the MB website shows Connect having Facebook as an app but I cannot get this - has anyone else managed? Also I can only get 1 phone to connect to bluetooth at one time - any way of having two phones connected (me and the wife)??

That doesntbseem too bad - what speed were you setting cruise control at?

Drove 600 miles today in my C350e mainly because the job was a lot more straightforward so the overnight stay wasn't necessary after all and I decided to drive back.

Over 9 hours and arrived home in fine fettle, not bent over or holding my back, such is the comfort of the seat.

Listened to a couple of podcasts and music on the Burmeister and actually quite enjoyed myself, Sport a few times, Sport + a few times but mostly Eco.

Had the sunroof open for a little while and thoroughly enjoyed what could have been a torturous experience.

Achieved 38.2 MPG which I am slowly coming to terms with!
What speed did you set cruise control at whilst you were in eco?

Generally 80 MPH and of course 55 in the obligatory roadworks.

And yes I never use Comfort.

Usually Eco unless having Sport fun :)

Me too. Flipping freezing this morning as well. Very inconvenient. Meant to call MB but was too busy to.

Congratulations. Our other household car is a 2014 520d MSport with professional media and there are some features from that, which I would love to have in the 350e - including the ability to pair 2 phones simultaneously. For example I carry 2 iPhones, one for business and the other personal. Right now, i can register both handsets to the car but only one can be connected for calls - despite the other being able to connect for media playback at the same time. :dk:

Considering I can answer and make calls from either device when in the BMW it's become a real pain in the Mercedes and I've missed a few calls already.

Wonder if CarPlay when it eventually arrives, will allow both to be connected.

Main difference for me when I swap back and forth between the 2 cars is the relaxed wafting airmatic suspension on the 350e, compared with the the hardened MSport suspension on the BMW which allows me to corner like its on rails! I like driving both for different reasons.

Hi all, I'm pressing ahead with getting a Rolec installed at home through EV charging solutions.

I've just got an email outlining the different charging units.

16amp type 2 socket version
32amp type 2 socket version
16amp type 1 tethered version
16amp type 2 tethered version
32amp type 1 tethered version
32amp type 2 tethered version

Im struggling to decide between the various versions and what the differences are between them.

Price difference is only £30, ranging from £299 to £330 so cost isn't a concern but wanting something that's future proof.

Is the C350e compatible with all of the above and what have others EV owners gone for?

Thanks

First of the C350e can only charge at 16A max ... so anything above that is excessive and/or future proofing yourself.

This is my understanding;

Socket version is exactly that, a socket into which you use the charger/cable that comes with the car.

Tethered versions do away with the need to use the charger/cable that came with the car and comes equiped with a cable/plug that plugs directly into the car. There are two types of sockets commonly used on cars;

Type 1 for Japanese cars
Type 2 for European/US cars

Personally I went for a 32A Tethered Type 2 for the Merc., logic being;

  • Unlikely to buy Japanese
  • May at somepoint buy a car that can charge >16A
  • Being tethered;
    a) it will be less hassle and therefore get used more often
    b) the supplied cables can remain in the car the majority of the time

For me it was £10 extra to have 32A over 16A and an additional £10 for a choice of colours.

+1

So after a colleagues c350e arrived back rang my garage. They have two bits but are waiting a third. They gave me a part number/works order to track the status of part, but not sure to track it from!

Any ideas? It's a WIP number?

I hope nobody minds if I pick a little nit this morning with the nicest of intentions. After all, while all you people can enjoy playing with your C350e cars, I still have to twiddle my thumbs for another four weeks before I get mine!

In his post about charger decisions, Jepson said:

When Quoting Jepson, Jules FB helpfully but wrongly changed the capital "A" to lower case thus:

"for me it was £10 extra to have 32a over 16a and an additional £10 for a choice of colours."

In the SI convention, if a unit is named after a person, in this case Ampère, when it is quoted in full the unit is spelt in lower case; ampere (no accent needed). When it is abbreviated to the initial letter it is written in the initial letter "A". So Jepson was correct.

Okay, so I'm a sad person; I'll get my coat....
