C350e owners club

Had mine for around 4 weeks now. Love it, beautiful car. Done just over 2000 miles in it including a couple of long trips and it is an incredibly comfortable and pleasant car to travel in.

However just on the back of a recovery truck going off to a dealership to be investigated as it has a red battery malfunction indicated on the instrument panel MFD and will not charge from the cable.

Have heard, as mentioned already here, there are modified parts coming over now for these charging issues so hopefully once they have been fitted it will all be smooth sailing

Did a long run in my repaired car. Definitely no temp gauge on the mileage screen. I also noticed that the E driving mode seemed more keen to regenerate on the motorway. Cruising at 77 and it was almost constantly harvesting and managed to get up to 70% battery!

This is lots more than I've ever got to before. My mpg was lower too 1-2mpg, so double checked i was still in hybrid rather than charge. They did change the control unit, maybe the software has been adjusted?

That's encouraging. Mine goes in on Wednesday and I'm hoping for quick rectification.

Ok first commute since collecting on Friday and I am pretty happy with the result...

Just coming off the motorway (queuing traffic). But the last few miles took their toll!

Did well on the ECO chart.

My commute is about the same...25 miles one way so hoping to see the same-ish result. I can charge the car at work so should be possible.

I don't have a home charger yet so only got 37mpg on the way in...anything over 38.5mpg will be good enough on work trips.

Weekend mpg is much lower closer to 30 but you can't drive Miss Daisy all the time.

Did another long driving day today (320mls) and noticed this recharging behaviour again. I wonder if it is linked to having the satnav on? When I turned it off towards the end it stopped doing it.

This time it took another 1-2 mpg of the cruise but I more than made it back during some town driving at the end. Weird!

Bad to here of more red battery fails above, here's hoping the cables are in more stock now.

Sorry to read that. Has anyone had it confirmed that these are modified replacement parts, or simply replacements?

I have a big tour of Europe coming up for most of August and am apprehensive about this happening. Woukd MB provide a similar replacement and what would happen to mine if I had to leave it in say Italy?

I was told verbally by the dealer that it was a modified part. However there were three fitted so not sure which bit.

Some good discussion (and someones pics) in here http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/204621-c350e-tripping-rcd-4.html if you haven't seen already

I've arranged delivery of mine on Friday, However the car arrived at the garage last wednesday. They said apart from the usual checks (PDI? etc) - it required a software / systems upgrade and multiple safety checks that are new.

I'm assuming these are based on issues with charging etc? But probably means a few days extra wait for a little while until they catch up?

Just the small issue of getting the current car serviced and ready for friday now :0 - woohooo! Not long! - and then a trip away for the weekend in it :)

...on the plus side the E Class loaner I have been given (previous model) isn't a patch on the C350E so I will have that wonderful feeling of getting back into it and appreciating the moment :)

Thank you...!

....Miss Daisy! What a great name for the voice in my SatNav - when I eventually get the car....

Our present lady is called "Hortense" but she is coming up to retirement soon. We've noticed that she's been "losing it" gradually in recent months. Comes to us all in the end, I suppose.

intruiging quesiton, has any new c350e owners come from a VW golf GTD or similar? - whats the speed / acceleration like etc?
I'm assuming a much smoother ride too :)

I'm swapping over from a VRS (Diesel) and had a GTD before that. Hoping to see a noticeable difference considering it's got an extra 100 bhp. Will let you know in 2 - 3 months.

hehe - get miine this friday - so will let you know before hand :0

True on the +100 - but only in sport mode.

Interested to see what the extra 30ish bhp and extra weight in normal mode means :P (Just the petrol part) - although yup yanking it up to full HP is allways gonna happen :)

Extremely pleased to have now picked mine up from the dealer following the charging problem. This required the wiring loom to be replaced as it was letting in moisture, but not at the rear plug in point which is where you might think it gets in. So whether its plugged in when raining doesn't seem to be the issue.

I understand they are modified parts, not replacements.

As Derekthetree rightly says RCD tripping thread has more detail.

Bit miffed - just had my order pushed back from 31st May to 22nd July - no reason given. Anyone else seen a delay message today ?

From what I have read the only mode that limits bhp would be electric only...

Also other modes make use of petrol engine and electric motor.

Not sure whether it's limited in the other modes (still running it in) but in the sport and sport+ modes it's certainly massively more responsive to small throttle inputs

Was driving to Gloucester early this morning and tootling along at 85 MPH when I was passed by a black C350e in the outside lane doing 100 at the least.

Clearly someone not driving in Eco :)

Nice to see another one, still have seen less than a handful actually on the road.
