C350e owners club

I've seen three wild ones, one at work, one at a local hotel and one way back in September while on holiday.

I've only ever seen one other one on the road so far and that was on Tuesday ... dark blue in the middle of Croydon at around 5 pm ish

Good job, I see the average is 29mph, is it a mix of mway and urban? Good result either way. I only get that when I run a high % e drive.

Do you drive in individual mode a lot? I thought it deactivated electric mode?

I drive from Maple Cross (near watford) to Farnham on a mixture of motorway (90%) and urban.

I have set the Individual to Eco engine but sport + steering and suspension, i prefer to harder suspension coming from a few fast Audi models.

Traffic is queuing anyway so I just sit in the inside lane and take it easy. Week days are for economy and weekends for Sport+.

I drove to Bristol and back earlier this week (200 miles) and didn't have any charge so struggled to hit 40mpg.

After 5 months my car won't charge anymore. First my 13amp charger popped at work. Then a few days later the other lead started tripping my home charger. Hopefully Mercedes have worked out a quick fix to this one now.

Was driving to Gloucester early this morning and tootling along at 85 MPH when I was passed by a black C350e in the outside lane doing 100 at the least.

Clearly someone not driving in Eco :)

Nice to see another one, still have seen less than a handful actually on the road.

With those antics, that c350e could be destined to spending a long stretch on its owners driveway. :ban:

Not another one. for me there is a growing sense of inevitability with this defect occurring. Was there any warning signs in the days or weeks running up to it?

When you speak with the recovering dealership, please can you ask their honest view on how common this is becoming and if they know of any plans for mass recall?

Seems to weaken MB claim of being 'the best or nothing' unless 'the best' is when you are enjoying your 350e and 'nothing' is what you're left with when it gets towed

Mine has been in the garage for almost 3 weeks having had similar problems (battery warning light came on). Does sound very common. Surprised there has not been a recall.

I regularly get around 99mpg, more so on the way home when its maybe a bit milder. You can't argue with that!

99.9mpg is definitely possible, I just live a little too far away from work. After about 30 miles it just starts falling quickly.

Yes, agreed. i think anyone that has a commute of 15-30 miles, and can charge at both ends will be very happy with what they can achieve.

Mine has now been (officially) diagnosed with this same issue having been recovered with the battery malfunction warning indicator and not charging. It isn't the only one in the same dealership having this work done on it.
I would be amazed if there isn't some kind of action on the part of Merc once they have built up stocks of the replacement parts, which at the moment appear to be in short supply I would have thought as more of the C350E's are arriving over here now the potential for the problem is growing every week. I am being told they hope to have mine repaired by end of next week. It's the cable loom running from the charging port on the car down to the battery apparently.
Have to say Merc have been amazing in terms of their help in making sure I wasn't messed around and car was collected and a courtesy car delivered within hours.
I have to say it is also testament to just how good a car it is, in my opinion, that I can't wait to give the E class loaner back and get into the C350E. I would still choose it, despite this issue.

is your C350e a 2015 or 2016 build?

Tis a very good question, as mine has been with the dealer for a week before delivery (aaaat some point today!). They sad there was system updates, health checks and some changes they had to make. Therefore assuming mine was an older build that had to go through the changes before deliver....

Which i suppose could be taken as good news, as that means the dealers are now aware and can sort these out? (I hope!)

As much as you can enjoy traffic jams I did this morning ...

Car doing all the steering and all the slow moving stop start stop start ... could have probably read a book !

This is not new technology.

Been done by white van men for years now with a copy of the Sun.

Me too - delivery was in November (first post, catching up) and car charging not working at the moment either - popping charger at home, and checked with plug from MB - seems to be something happening in the car but haven't reported the fault yet, want to try again over the weekend in case water got in (the outer hatch to the charger had popped open / not closed properly one day, it was my son who noticed it) - seems you don't get a warning light when this happens.

I miss the boost from the charged car, thankfully not missing the pre-heat at the moment
