Hi,

I'm new to this forum and have tried searching but haven't had much luck with the question i'm about to ask. Just recently purchased a CLK 05 plate and it's come with the phone kit pre-installed. The COMAND system does have bluetooth and i am able to pair my phone to the car but i cannot make or recieve calls through the system. I figured it can only be done through the car kit and i'm not sure how i can connect my phone to it. I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 so do i need to go out and buy a special cable for this? If so where can i find it? Or is there way of using my phone through bluetooth? Thanks!!

Nope, if you have the bluetooth dongle in the centre arm rest, and have paired the phone with the COMAND, then that should be it. I take it you have entered the 5 digit PIN into your blackberry on pairing to allow the connection (only when you pair the device).

Do you see the name of your phone on the bottom right corner of the COMAND display? that means it is connected.

I think there is also some bluetooth setting on the phone to allow the MB System to see your address book - check for properties of the particular connection on your blackberry. but even without that you should be able to dial a number via the COMAND keypad and make a call.

There is also another bluetooth setting on the blackberry called 'trusted' I think this just allows it to automatically connect whenever you get in the car, set that to yes as well.

You will need an HTP bluetooth phone cradle which is connected to the in built phone kit (usually in the centre console). Your Blackberry can then be paired to this device after entering the code number - it will have an identifier of "MB PhoneSystem".
Make sure that the Blackberry is set for "discoverable mode", set "Trusted mode" to Yes, "Encryption" set to disabled, "Echo control" set to automatic.
Once paired the address book of the Blackberry can be transferred to the MB Bluetooth which will be displayed and can be accessed in the car.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8320 which works with the HTP bluetooth cradle in this manner.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the Comand bluetooth has nothing to do with the phone system. I'm not sure what its for but I know that it will not work with any phone system in spite of being able to apir with it.
Also be aware that in using the HTP Bluetooth cradle your phone is not connected to the aerial of the car so the signal may not always be good. I must say that I havent found this to be a big problem.

Wicked, thanks for all your help. Will look into getting the HTP bluetooth cradle, i'm thinking of getting the Dension iPod kit for the car anyway which comes with a phone bluetooth module, so may opt for that if its cheaper...but thank you! :)

You could use either the Viseeo MB-2 cradle or the Mercedes HFP cradle. Both work well with bluetooth and the Blackberry.

thanks!

I'm actually looking for the Viseeo MB2 now. Been speaking to a few people and apparently the bluetooth kit with the Dension isn't that great.
