Do these wheels/tyres fit?? Read this first! Offset/fitment answers within..

Just to add that the SL (R230) amg wheels are same offset (30 front and 33 rear) and fitting as on a W211 so even though the part number will show them as SL they fit fine.

I have exactly the same tyre spec on a set of SL wheels which I bought a couple of weeks ago. No issues with tyre rub at all but the correct sizes for your W211 are 245/40/18 for the front and 265/35/18 for the rear. I would switch to this spec when you get the new boots put on

Brilliant, thanks. I feel a little better now

So, let me get this right - it is fine to put 245 on front & 265 on the rear then..? Just seems a little odd that different sizes are currently on there...

What tyre would you personally go for chap..?

As per my previous post you should have 245/40/18 on the front and 265/35/18 on the rear. These are the sizes approved by Mercedes. The reason you have different sizes on now - same reason as me - is that the wheels will have been bought by the previous owner from someone who owned an SL which has a different approved tyre size. When my tyres need changing I'll be switching to the correct fitment.

Hope this helps

Do these wheels fit?

Haven't bought these second hand wheels yet. Will they fit a CLK320

Great Link - so no modifications required?

This is a great guide thank you Chris. So just so I'm sure any combinations listed will work with zero modifications (spacers, arch rollering etc etc)?

I'm specifically interested in options for SL Class R230.

Last column in the fitment guide has notes if modification is needed. Obviously this only applies to standard cars so if your car is for example is lowered then it may not fit without any modification.

Go to the first post, open up the guide posted there and see for yourself...if I answered your question it would be because I had done this.;)
And what model is your CLK?

BTW, welcome to the forum (as Caesar said to Brutus).

Aha this now makes perfect sense thank you!

can i fit this combination on any of my cars C180 w202,190E 1988,230CE 1988
Front: rim 8x17 (innpress ET 35), tyre 225/45 ZR 17
rear: rim 9x17 (innpress ET29), tyres 245/40 ZR 17

Can anybody tell me whether any of these wheels will fit a 1996 R129 SL500? I've looked in the guide but struggle to work out if these will fit straight on or not?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a Vito 115 dualiner sport, currently fittted with 17" alloys as factory standard.
Now I have at home 4x Avon 225/40 R18 XL WINTER tyres that I purchased last year for my previuos car (Mondeo ST TDCi estate), thay have only done around 3000 miles.
So my question; Is there a wheel that wil fit the Vito that will let me fit them for the winter? I'm guessing the tyres are to thin (225) to fit an 8j rim

sl alloys

hi can any one help me i have just got a set of sl 55 amg alloys with 285x35x 18 and 255x35x18 will they fit on my clk 240 2004

Hi, as a MB newbie i have looked at the guide in post 1 and tbh im bamboozled. I have a 94 C180 W202 which is lowered all round 40mm. It is fitted with 18in oz alloys and 225/40 18 tyres. Can i swop with standard 17in alloys from a 03 c200 coupe? Will spacers or different bolts be needed or is it just a straight swap?? Confused and need help please

Hi. First post here. I have a 2011 C220CDi (W204) with the sports package and 18" rims. I am looking to buy some new rims and winter tyres, but I am unsure as to whether 16" or 17" rims will fit due to the brake calipers? Can anyone help here? Thanks

Anyone know if:

For the Front:
ET31 Wheel - 8Jx18H2 (HWA 210 401 01 02)
Tyre - 235/40ZR18 95W

And for the Rear:
ET35 Wheel - 9JX18H2 (HWA 210 401 02)
Tyre - 265/35ZR18 97W.

Will fit my W202 sport?

ok, so i've shipped my wheels off for refurb now, so it's time to get the other bits and pieces sorted while they are away, namely, spacers(?), bolts, locking bolts, tyres and make a decision on new MB centre caps, or get the brabus ones cleaned up.

Second opinions/experience and thoughts are always good, so i'd appreciate some other eyes looking over this.

so, quick refresh, i currently have 17" Mercedes Alshain Alloys :-
Front alloy wheels: 17x7.5" ET37
Wheel part number: MER B66471511
Additional alloy part number: A2034011802

Rear alloy wheels: 17x8.5" ET34
Wheel part number: MER B66471515
Additional alloy part number: A2034012402

And the New Wheels are 18" Brabus Monoblock VI Alloys :-
Front alloy wheels: 18x8.5" ET35
Wheel part number: BRA 612-858-35-RDK

Rear alloy wheels: 18x9.5" ET35
Wheel part number: BRA 612-958-35-RDK

so, i've been doing a little research at various sites to check out the size differences etc, given different tyre setups, Original fronts are 225/45/17 and Original Rears are 245/40/17.

Given the increase in rim widths i'm looking to go up a size on each i think (subject clearances etc) the rears, can, i know from the AMG option, go straight to 255/35/18 because that is an AMG option, the inset can also be shifted to ET30 as an option, giving 4 mm wider track over the original ET34 with no issues.

One of the sites i have been using, was this one, i have linked it because it puts all the info on the one calculation page (printouts below) Rims'n'Tires

the options i have been considering are,
225/40/18 or 235/40/18
and
245/35/18 or 255/35/18

Given the information, and looking over the results from that website, it would appear that to fit these to my 2005 C350 Coupe i don't actually need any spacers  just the correct Brabus Bolts and high-security locking wheel bolts should i wish
This would be nice, and is backed up a little by this pdf file i found BRABUS_CL203_2005 which, if you look at the table on the back page, seems to indicate all i need is the bolts :)
(be careful not to get the wrong line in it, as there is a part number the same as mine showing as ET25 in that chart, but the part number is definitely for ET35, so there is at least one error in that chart that i can see)

Here's an image version instead, if you don't want to load the PDF file :-

Here are the printouts with the info from that website for the different wheel combinations

FRONT

REAR

so..... anyone got any thoughts, am i on the right track, or has someone already tried running this combination and found they needed spacers ? ...

the other thing i have noticed, is that in stock guise, with the steering on half to full lock, i dont exactly have an abundance of clearance front or rear of the tyre, can barely squeeze my fingers in the gap :scared:

Hi,

From what I can tell a set of Merak alloys would be OK on a w203 estate.

But would I need different bolts than those on there at the moment (Currently on Electra wheels).

Many thanks.

Chris

I have a sl500 129 1996 and currently standard corroded alloys that will be refurbed shortly however ive order a set of 18" staggered alloys 8.5j front 10j rears...so far i sit ok with that....however im assuming with the 235/40 on front and 265/35 on rear....this will have an impact on the comfortable ride i currenttly have.....can anyone suggest what the perfect set up is? the 16" 15 slot alloys didnt really do it for me hence the need to change?
