I wash my cars by hand, I like to pay particular attention to the wheel arch lips, but maybe not often enough though ;)

What ever happened to the OP DeanX?

I recall he was a bit feisty.

Well having had the wheels refurbished I am now washing the car myself, that the hand car washes use a spray on the wheels and that murders the finish on them,my wheels had no curbing but were discoloured by corrosion.

I wash my own car, trying to convince the kids that this is a 'fun' activity for them to do :)

I tend to wash mine and Mrs car - that way i can keep an eye on any car park damage (her in Tescos) and routine servicing plus its a break from the stresses of every day living, I'll drive to work and clean the car at work, no body there so no distractions.

D.

I also try get my wee one involved, sometimes she helps and sometimes refuses. Either way I enjoy it if only I had more time I'd clay bar, polish, wax it but washing and waxing takes long enough.

Something I used to really enjoy .... washing my car. A good chance to spot any areas that needed attention. I also used to enjoy doing routine maintenance twixt servicing at the dealers. Alas, no longer viable.
I now employ my daughter....( Very cheap labour) to valet the inside, and the gardeners Mrs to wash the outside. She ( gardeners Mrs ) also provides tea and cake for me to consume whilst watching the above being done.:)
:)

The gardener’s missus sounds like a top lady to know!

Yep, clean my own, always have, as already said great satisfaction when done and car looking fantastic, to be honest I'm a tad OCD, plus it's a known fact , clean cars drive better.
:D

absolutely as smartamg says above. Always clean all my cars myself. Two bucket system with annual clay and wax. Get great satisfaction from doing it really well.......OCD helps!!

Would never let anyone else near my car, unless a known detailer!

I used to let the local car wash groups do mine, until I gained a light scratch on the boot :(. I have used 2 or 3 near me so couldn't prove where it come from, so now I do my own. I now realise the job satisfaction when I stand back and admire the finish.:).:thumb:.

SWMBO has never washed any of the cars she has owned/ shared .
I once commented on this fact , her reply was You cook the dinners do the washing and ironing do the Shopping, then I will wash the car.

I do a mixture of using local hand car wash (top job but £7) and doing myself. With four kids aged 12 and under I'm trying to get them to help out, they're reasonably fine in terms of the time commitment just no so fantastic on quality of work - yet...!! Haven't had serious negotiations on levels of pay yet thankfully.

I used to go to the local car wash years ago but now I always do it myself and I do the exterior & interior on a weekly basis or so and wax once every 2-3 months and clay once a year after winter or before summer as that’s when you get most contamination stuck to your paint which just makes it harder to clean as well.
