Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Yes it's a kit car. It's a tribute 250 swb. No mot according to my checks?

Yes, I noticed the lack of MOT too. Also, I think the reg plates are illegal in that they have to be black lettering on white/yellow background if the car is newer than a certain age.

Yes, it's registered in 2001 but 'historic' silver/black plates are only allowed on pre-1980 cars. The registration is mis-spaced anyway so I guess the owner figured it wouldn't make much difference ;) :D

That looks lovely, but the reg plate (X25 OGT) comes up as a BMW Z3! So is it actually a Z3-based kit car?
Yes it’s manufactured by Tribute Automotive. I don't think they make that kit any more though. Some people seem to look down on kit cars and replicas but I think these are particularly good.

I was very tempted a few years ago and I was thinking of using the Z3M to create a ratty looking version of my mate Dave’s 250 SWB - same colours but deliberately make it look loved and lived in.

How about this little beauty? Not a recent photo but it's still showing as taxed ;)

An anti-theft strategy...?
I had a mate, Tony, in the early 80's who used to race a Mini in Rallycross, and at the end of each season his race engine would end up in his road Mini which had a full roll cage, no heater - too much weight ;) - perspex side windows, and not much of its original interior. Being a bit "vulnerable" to theft, Tony always used to take the steering wheel off and carry it with him when he parked up. He was also known for taking the wheel off and passing it to an unsuspecting passenger while driving along the road

Saw this 1953 Citroën Traction Avant in the pub carpark after lunch today:

It may not look wonderful, but judging by what I could see of the interior it looks to be in use. And being RHD, I'd guess it was built in Slough.

Was it Tony Twilley with the Twini Mini?

Lovely, and great to see something in use and unmolested. The Dvla records show it as currently not SORNed, and it had an MOT pass fairly recently.

This ticks the box for interesting but also for cool numberplate, sounded pretty good too 20220330_171236.jpg
