hi one and all. i'm in the process of buying one of these supercars. i know about the biodegradeable harness problems with the earlier ones. can anyone tell me if the indicators and wipers being on all the time is engine bay or cabin harness related? if engine bay, i'll replace it and be over the moon. if cabin, i'll have to think carefully that i have enough time for the job as it's such a huge undertaking.

the car's a uk model '94 with full uk mb service history. it's not been diagnosed by the dealer yet. i'm based in rural sw france so dealers are not exactly thick on the ground. of course if it was just the switchgear!!!! wishfull thinking i'm sure. mileage is 140,000miles, though if it sait 14,000 on the clock it would seem real. no signs of interior wear, blemishes on the paint etc. when they built these they must have had a long life planned. what were they thinking with the biodegradeable insulation?

any helpfull pointers or info will add to my limited knowlege so don't be shy.

As said on the other forum, N10 relay or stalk problems most likely cause. Also check fuses are making proper contact.

By the way they are fantastic cars and the drive is quite superb. I have enjoyed mine for the last three years or so.

Bonjour et bienvenu!

I suspect it's more than just a coincidence that both the wipers and indicators meet at the control stalk.

thanks for the reply's. i'm looking forward to my first drive withought the current owner in the car. just want to relax and find my seat settings. it would be excellent if i could sort it almost on the way home.

i'm going back tomorrow for another look. are there any pics i can take to help identify the faulty bits? any pics i can take that might help another owner with re-assembly or something?

funny how when you've read so much about the dodgy wiring and are in awe of something this complex. it's was so easy for me to jump to the (hopefully) wrong conclusion on the problem. i just knew what the fault was before i'd even looked at the car in the flesh. thinking about it now, of course the stalk would be the first thing to check.

regards, stewart
