Top Gear sucks

Brilliant Programme.

I don't believe Top Gear is solely about cars. I think it's based on their ego's mixed with octane.

Their personalities really bring out their characters. Their opinions are biased, based on their views solely and as a result it makes people laugh.

It's an entertainment programme mixed with factual.

Cannot believe the popularity of Top Gear! Wake up, smell the coffee, buck the hype – this has to be the most puerile tosh ever on the box. The presenters? C'mon! 'Men as Boys' is so contrived it makes me want to vomit.

James May – the oafish, foppy nerd still infatuated with all things boring and who delights in being Captain Slow. And what's with the daft barnet? Oh, I'm a hippie now - though, of course, I was never a hippie when it was hip.

Richard Hammond – the cheesy DJ with floral shirts and and torn denims plus a 'menacing' leather jacket . Then the big Duran Duran hair and doe-eyed stare – oh, please mother me, puleeease girls. About as rebellious – and sexy - as Mr Bean.

Jeremy Clarkson – the non-pc icon. "I'm from the Dark Ages and I don't give a toss. I'll forever argue that black is white. So there!" Oh, how cool am I?

Now put them in silly cars and send the trio on the daftest, most boyish shoots ever. Let's pretend James has crashed his Lambo, they've kipped in their cars all night and, hey, look, the Hampster can emerge in the morning with a CD plastered to his face. And we'll get the car phone to call Vernon Kay lots of times. Then we'll find (another) 'best road in the world'. In Romania.

This is fifth form mince - and so bad now that it's become a parody of itself.

Kill this immediately.

Then we can get a proper car show.

Clarkson and May have both proved beyond doubt that they are serious, intelligent and great TV presenters/writers/journos through their wider body of work.
Hammond has never done anything good, ever, ever.

TG is still worth watching for the cinematography and some good pieces scattered amongst the dross.
But the pathetic playing up/dumbing down is now too dominant.
What is most hugely irritating though is the way it is produced with the apparent assumption that "we" (the audience) still believe that it is all real.

Finally, am I alone in feeling nauseous every time JC shouts "Do we want to see his lap....?" at the end of the now totally dull SIARPC piece ???
NOT REALLY YOU TW** BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE INTERVIEW SO JUST GET THE **** ON WITH IT.....

Older episodes are much better and yes they have clearly run out of ideas.
(I still watch endless repeats on Dave though!!)

I still find it amusing how we have at least one or two Top Gear 'hate threads' every time a new series is launched.

The repetitive nature of these threads is even more predictable than the program itself (which incidentally I do watch and enjoy :thumb: )

It's always anticipated, has huge viewing numbers, attracts many people (celebrities and general public alike) and all we seem to do is moan about it.

I can't stand Big Brother/Pop Idol etc reality rubbish but don't find the need to whinge. What about the Antiques Roadshow or Songs of Praise, aren't they getting a bit dull, why not have a thread about those etc... :D

Seems crazy to me that people still insist on watching things that they don't like. Don't tell me - you spread your toast with marmite despite not liking the stuff? :wallbash:

i think the point is more that its a shame the program has turned so ****. i used to look forward to watching it and would rarely miss a show, no its dull as dishwater and i couldnt care less if i watch it or not

same jokes over and over, scripted of course. its just like everything eles on tv these days

never the less the silly ness and anti-pc makes me chuckle once or twice should i sit down and watch it

Are you referring to the show, or the threads? :D

Perhaps the reason we talk about TG on a motoring forum is because it's about, well, motoring.

Perhaps we don't talk about those other prgrammes is because they aren't motoring related.

What do you think?

It's fairly simple, really. We kinda pay for it. And if we choose not to, we get sent to prison.

are you offended by all television? or just this bit... there is some good stuff too you know.

These days I watch hardly any TV! It's mostly garbage - soaps or reality TV cr*p! (Although I get a laugh from Come Dine with Me - my wife likes it!)

Couldn't agree more although Tuesday nights are great on ITV 4 with Minder at 8.00pm followed by a double bill of Auf Wiedersehen Pet at 9.00pm............pure bliss!!!!:):D

He indoors used to like that as well. Then they removed ITV3 & 4 a few weeks ago. She's not a happy bunny.

There is little on TV now that you can't get via iplayer, so maybe its time to dump the licence.

Its all very well being critical without proposing how to improve the programme.
Criticise by all means, but it would be nice to get a few thoughts at the same time on how to make it better.................
Any practical and useful suggestions from the OP ? ?

However, despite everything............I do tend to agree with at least some of the sentiments expressed............

As has been said before.............dont think of TG as a motoring programme..............think of of it more as an entertainment programme that happens to to have cars in it.

HR17 "Some dull old bird", SURELY you dont mean V_B_H, she's still in my fantasy box !

Nah - can't remember the birds name - think she presents Classic Gear on one of the satellite channels nowadays. She might be called Edna or Gladys or something like that - use your imagination!

VBH is still in my fantasy box too though...

Sabine is my fantasy bird......... :thumb:

Sorry about the BMW in the photo.

I can think of a lot of things it would be fun to do with Sabine in her M5. 'Ring Taxi' they call it apparently. Like a taxi home from the pub with a fit blonde bird, but without the beer maybe?

hi alexmoon just 2 things 1 you are not cool. 2 get someone to point out the off button on your tv ,. that is all

Could it have been Selina Scott?

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple:ban:

I really cannot understand why some people get so animated about they're hatred for the show. Like i say, simply don't watch it. I don't understand why anyone would watch something they don't like, simply so they can winge about how much they hate it:crazy::dk::doh::wallbash:

I don't like many things on TV but don't feel the need to complain about them at every opportunity.
Simple really.
Because you, I and everybody else with a TV Licence PAY FOR IT.
I'd like my licence fee money spent on a proper motoring programme not make millionaires out of JC and Hamster (don't think May is in that bracket) and spend £500k+ per episode on sometimes awful boys own entertainment (?) twaddle.

Time to get her out of that box.

Could we have a show with James May and VBH - nerdy technical stuff and nicely maturing totty...
