Begin rant...

Our lasses Dad heard some noise coming from outside his house a couple of nights ago - it was around 2am - when he stepped out the door he found a whole group of ******/drugged up lads messing around inside is LDV minibus... He shouted at them to get out and was met with a hail of abuse, beer cans being thrown at him and threatened with knives!

The police came with full lights/sounds and that scared them off - all good. Only not so, later at around 4am he heard more noise...

The lads had broken into a yard down the road, knocked out two security guards and stole a forklift truck, and then came back to our lasses dads and flipped the van over so that it's now sat on it roof.

I could imagine teenagers doing something like this (It would still sicken me too), but for grown men to do this?! It's ****ing outrageous.

They managed to catch 3 of them though, so at least someone's going to get punished. (Although with our legal system its doubtful the punishment will actually be as bad as it should be).

...end rant

What's the world coming too, can't believe it. Hope justice is done, although this will probably mean some kind of education programme or community service for the offenders. Doesn't make up for the disruption and damage caused.

Hope there's no problem / fear of reprisal...

Shame there isn't any CCTV to catch these thugs.

Thanks all - there might be CCTV, they need to check with the yard where the forklift was nicked from. It's times like this where the death penalty looks appealing

Lucky escape me thinks

If they were up to taking on two security guards and laying into them, your pop in law could have ended up on the receieving end as well

The van can be fixed........

Still, I agree, capital punishment does look appealing

I hadn't really picked up on this earlier. This is serious stuff, these guys meant business.

I thought the Police didn't attend 'crimes' now unless they were speeding motorists...

Having travelled the world. It is sad to admit this. But you can pretty much say that this sort of vandal/yob behaviour is a UK problem in its own right.

Yes some countries may have a little problem. But in the UK its an epidemic..

You will never see this behaviour in Malaysia, Singapore, parts of europe etc..

My family run and own business in Blyth, Northumberland.

Now thats a ****hole.

Just remember this government is TOTALLY against punishing offenders. The current prisons minister insists he will 'reform' them. His words not mine... "Prisons are a place to rehabilitate and reform"

shame on you folks for suggesting these misunderstood, unfortunate individuals should be punished. they need our sympathy and understanding.

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime!!!

It's quite a frightening picture of the UK, and it's reflection on justice: For the Police to have attended, and then for them to come back and finish the job off, it shows how much fear our judicial system sends out to offenders. Should get the FULL sentence instead of doing half. Or maybe Judges should double the sentences. Or maybe, and heres a good idea, they should build more prisons.

Unbelievable ! I hope they get the book thrown at them

If they do then they will claim that their civil rights have been infringed because the book was in a hard cover...:D

In all seriousness -- I feel sorry for the poor security guards....wont be long now before we go the american route ... arming everybody....then knives will be our least problem...

Is it just the UK or is this a world wide yob epidemic or am I just getting old and ****** off with it all

No one said anything about being tough on the criminal though.
You spotted the politicians cop out :)

can't you see it involved a car/van? if they were just attacking the house...............:D
anyway this is serious .
i hope you are still safe

I am actually quite encouraged about the polices response here :D

I hope these yobs get a long time in prison. Honestly though, chain gangs would be better.

im a child of the seventies, and in the last couple of years or so ive been wondering if its just because im getting older (and grumpier!)...but this country really does seem to be suffering ......if it keeps escalating at the same rate we are heading for complete social breakdown
