What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Yesterday I hand washed it and then plugged in a cheapo (£25) Halfords trickle charger.

After a few hours of charging I fired it up this morning - it definitely spun up faster.

I then took it for a quick drive. After a week in my wife's Fiat 500 it was sooooo relaxing.

renewed the pollen filter and had 2 tyres put on the back wheels . polished it to within 0.001 microns of paint , time for a beer and football, come on england .109238.jpg109238.jpg

Had it trickle charging all night - still not fully topped up. I'll keep going for as long as it takes.

Meanwhile, I also tried Autoglym Rapid Glass for the first time as some one on here recommended it. Very impressive - wished I'd know about it years ago!

I have used that for years, it's good :)

I've tried all sorts over the years but this is head and shoulders better than anything I've used - apart from anything else it's incredibly easy to apply and buff. I've just been out in the glaring sun and the screen is flawless.

Who ever mentioned it - thanks!

The battery finally hit full charge yesterday so I put the trickle charger away. I'm going to start to use it regularly as the car does do a lot of sitting around with low charge. Best way to kill a battery. And I can't find the proof of purchase/4 year warranty.

Treated the rubbers and plastics with Raceglaze colour enhance. This is awesome stuff. I'm putting it on everything (plastic) at the moment. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts but impressions so far are very good. Although i've not needed to resort to this on the Merc yet i've found where plastics are too faded then a good clean and a few coats of Hammerite Satin Black make them look like new. No special prep needed other than a quick sand with say 500 wet and dry. Looks brand new and lasts (i did the grill on my Alfa 6 years ago and it's still like the day i did it). The other advantage is you no longer have to faff with various rubber/plastic preparations. I wouldn't do a large expansive area like the front scuttle but for smaller sections it's worth a go and is dead easy to do well, it's very forgiving.

That is the one I use and it is very good :)
+1. Ive used this for years. Ive tried all sorts of others because the AG stuff isn't cheap, but it just works with no smearing. I have found it's best to apply it to the cloth, not the window (as i used to). I read this on Detailing World - it does seem to make a difference and you use less.

Ditto :)
