What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

The LH & RH ends of my rear number plate have been flapping about in the plate holder for longer than I can remember. Sticky pads don't seem to hold thinks for long, so I used some sticky velcro. Sorted.

It was also great to use the new wipers in the poring rain yesterday and hear it cranking over nice and fast on the new battery.

Just got interior alcantara steering wheel deep cleaned and feels so so good.

Installed Road Top module so I have Apple CarPlay in my W204. First impressions: installation incredibly easy - just plugged it in to the module in glovebox. But not sure the old original screen is really good enough / lack of touch screen makes it a bit of a churn to use

Yes the car looks great now, thanks. I realised that I continually clear the obvious bits like the paint, leather, windows, door cards & dash whilst ignoring the mats and the black plastic panels around the footwells. Doing them and the door hinges properly has really lifted the interior.

Regarding the touch up paint, the type you want has a long thin brush so you can do very fine work - that or you can use an actual painter's brush. The one I have is from MAD and has a long brush - I don't know why they call it a "pen" on the website.

The speakers I'm looking at are Morels. Front doors & tweeter, fitted at Comandonline. They've already fitted a 10 inch sub in the boot which fills out the lower frequencies nicely.
Thankyou
I always clean the mats and plastic around the footwells. Also clean under the mats, around the seat and under ( moving seats up, down, back and forward). Give the door hinges a wipe, but maybe will pay more attention.

The touch up sticks do look reasonably priced Inc clear lacquer and primer if needed.

I miss having a sub, maybe will look into that too.

Started cleaning up the bodywork a bit, clayed one side of the car so far and the bonnet, lots of chips to touch up though....tried my chips away kit out...def not getting the same results you see on their website! lol :D
Which clay bar did you use?

Thankyou

The sub adds a lot to the overall sound just by filling in those lower frequencies.

Personally, I'd prioritise that over improving the front door speakers & tweeters.

Other people would do the latter first. Personal tastes.

In a seminal moment, I realised with a newborn baby there’s never the ideal time… tasks need to be completed when random windows of opportunity occur!
So changed fuel filter and air filter - rest of service will have to wait for the next moment of freedom

Dropped mine off this morning to get the back bumper repainted. They were short staffed so asked if I wanted a loaner for a couple of days instead of picking it up at the end of day. Fair enough. Fabia 1.0 it is then :)

Also, turns out they can do me a paint correction & machine polish....added to the list for some time soon.

Picked my car up from the bodyshop at lunchtime - the rear bumper looks a million times better. I might get a clear plastic protector for it as my family do love to drag their luggage over it and nothing I say seems to stop them......

No pics yet as I want to give the car a quick wash first.

Unusual ? Body shops normally would Valet the car before handing it back to you unless you specifically ask them not to of course :)

I was hoping/expecting they would have done. Anyway, no biggie, it's just a bit dusty in places.

I'm now massively paranoid about scuffing it. It didn't matter at all before.......

Front discs and pads done, MB discs NLA, good at £165, got myself a pair of Febi from fleebay at £85, perfect with my new green stuff pads, what a difference. All set for France on Sunday. 😇

I have a concertina load cover that sits just inside the boot...and can be pulled out and unfurled over the rear bumper to protect it .. I got it from MB Accessories section.

you can see it here Technical Accessories Online Store £45

Thanks for the suggestion.

As it turns out, I have one that is attached to the underside of the boot floor and that can be hung out over the rear bumper to protect it.

It only took me 5 years to find it........

I drove it :thumb:

For various reasons the SL hasn't turned a wheel since moving house last August. Finally had a dry day and a bit of free time ... a 25 year old car parked for 10 months with year-old petrol in the tank - what could possibly go wrong? :D In the event, nothing! Started first turn of the key (I do keep it on a maintenance charger), roof worked fine, took it for a 15 mile run and nothing fell off (always a bonus :D).

It has sometimes stood for a few months in the past without being driven (particularly over winter), and the tyres normally took a few miles to lose the 'flat spots'. Interestingly it was smooth & quiet right from the start today :dk: Left at normal tyre pressures - I know it's often recommended to put extra air in for storage. Next stage is to give it a wash - it was a 170 mile drive up here when we moved so it's not had the indoor cover on since then.
