What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Took front wheels off the Glc to change front pads to discover plenty left on the ones fitted , so cleaned the wheels up with brake dust cleaner (insides baked on ruby coloured crap ) . Removed rear wheels , cleaned them up also , not quite as bad .

Fitted a rubber boot liner to keep the interior clean when out walking the mutt .
Out of interest why did you think the pads were due replacement?

Bin the silicone and use this stuff , it's what they use in the factory. Pull off any rubber seal trims , apply this around the metalwork and reseat the rubber trim. It's not just the rubber seal that stops water getting in. Water gets in through where the seal attaches to the car . Its flexible and doesn't dry out .
👍

Bought the required parts to service her indoors W169 A Class on Friday.....I look forward to laying under the car just to change the plugs....stoopid design!

Another day, another service. Choosing to pay cash this time, rather than renew the service contract. It’s a Service B with no additional items so it’s around half the price of covering it under a service plan.

The last service was the opposite end of the scale though with transmission fluid, spark plugs, brake fluid and filters, which would easily exceed the equivalent cost when paid for through a service plan.

Glad I took a screenshot of the online booking confirmation as when I arrived the service advisor claimed that the cost was precisely £60 more than the online booking confirmed, which doesn’t sit well with me.

Ironically the bill when presented was £3 less when the service had been completed!
It was £3 less because the extra work of pulling your pants down to get the extra £60 wasn’t required ?

Just brushed some dinitrol cavity wax into the wheel arches of both cars (that a cleaned out the other day )
Upper front suspension mounts on the w211 notorious for collecting debris . Mud etc .

Good to see my local mb dealer has replaced the covid hand sanitizer pumps with the good old fashioned KY jelly dispenser . It takes away alot of the pain the hand sanitizer didn't . I pop in now for 2 pumps every month to cover the service plan I took out , 3 years of walking about ,sounding like a flip flop.

Yep, there is a slot that likes to fill up with grit and sh£t behind the spring . I’d forgotten that since last year . I’ll stick it on the list .

That's the one buddy.

I've just got to the bottom of my brake noise, I inspected the pads in situ a few weeks ago and there seemed to be plenty of life. Noise was still there so I decided to remove the pads to see....the lining had come.away from the backing plate!

Blinking Heck..!
Fwiw I have had that on some cheapo pads from Eurocarparts, so I changed them for Brembo pads. But if it happened to OEM Mercedes ones, I think I would be inclined to "raise my disapproval" rather than simply chastise myself for trying to be too parsimonious.

Normally I would but it was the previous owner that had them done and that was in Scotland. It makes you wonder though if genuine parts are all they're cracked up to be. Just glad nothing bad happened under braking.

Most are Bremo anyways , just without the over priced Mercedes star painted on them and a pretty box .

Not any more, got discs and pads a few weeks ago just in case. Drivers side all done this evening, I'll tackle the other side tomorrow

Is there no where on the Web that you ca download the update for GPS maps for your car?

I've 2 mercs I want to do.
Anyone help?

Depends what year they're on . Some are dvd some are SD cards, some require a pin some don't.

Changed the oil and filter on the shed today. Never realised how simple it is with an extraction pump.
All done in around 45 mins start to finish. Air filter will be changed when it arrives Monday.
Reset service indicator and good for another 12 months. Just the ATF to sort out.

Took one for a Mom & Dad date drive to pick up an iced coffee. It was a lovely evening for it too. Been without it for four months so trying to enjoy it whilst we still have good weather.

Hi , had the car 4 wheel tracked in Worcester after hitting Potholes.
