What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Yep.
I wash mine in the rain also - that provokes even more comments, mostly along the lines of "What's that complete twonk doing.....?"
Ha , I do that . To save me putting the hose on to wash away the suds . I also say £30 when they say do mine next .

Washed the girls today as they were both covered in a combination of the Sahara and builders dust.

Every time I wash them, my neighbour will either say , can you do mine next? or you'll make it rain! Do any of you guys get this when washing your cars?
Same old guy seems to walk past especially when I am polishing, his pat line is "you'll polish the shine off it, hur hur". kin ell !!

I live next to a park and the path runs a few feet away from where I clean my cars so I'll get similar comments every 5 minutes or so!

On Friday I stuck the roof bars on again along with one bike rack. On Saturday I took my son from London to Leeds to start uni with my oldest mountain bike on the roof, a boot full of clobber, him in the back and my OH beside me.

Yesterday I took the bars off for the return trip to reduce the wind noise. The OBC registered over 31 mpg door to door which I though was pretty good. I find if I use Distronic as muvh as possible I remove the temptation to blat past idiots doing idiotic things and generally feel more relaxed.

Changed both rear shocks , passenger side had a ticking knock over small bumps , doing my head in. File attached of the noise , not sure if it's worked tbh :-)

All the time, and had all the comments like, you can't polish a turn and you will wash the paint off.

Gave the CLK an oil and filter change , the old girls on 99k now .
5.5L of Fuchs 5w/40‘s finest and a Bosch filter .
Thought it might be one of the last days for outside car tinkering in shorts and t-shirt …..I’m sure that’s reason enough for an oil change :p

Windscreen replacement guy turned up this morning, they can't change the windscreen as there's rust on the bodywork around the area. Luckily , he hadn't taken the glass out, so she'll need to get the rust sorted before it can be replaced :(. Anyone recommend a good bodyshop nr Essex or wants to buy an old 124? 🤣

Well that's a pain.......the upside is that to fix the rust properly, the bodyshop will almost certainly have to take the screen out, so it can all be done at once; rust fixed and new screen installed. Result - kind of.......:(

I was recommended a guy called Danny Grayston at Temple wood estate, Stock Road B1007, Chelmsford Essex .CM2 8JP . 01277 840211. (PJ Accident repair Centre )
The guy from chips away who recommended him said he wouldn’t use anyone else .
I had a similar issue a while ago , I went and spoke to him but never went ahead as I couldn’t co-ordinate the windscreen company during Covid .
My plan had been to leave the car with him , the windscreen company would attend and remove the screen . He would respray the roof and sort the around screen rust , windscreen company would then refit .

Thanks for that. Yeah the guy said they could liaise with the bodywork guys and take out and refit once sorted. Chelmsford isn't too far from me, it's just being able to get home if I leave it there 🤔

Driven one 240 miles, with 120 miles of that cross country, including some of my favourite roads across Exmoor and along the coast. It’s managed 19.67 mpg (brim to brim) or 19.9 on the trip computer.

It’s a car tht we haven’t used for this type of journey - lugging family and dog long distances - since 2016 when it was retired from active service, so it was fantastic to be using it in that way once again.

It bought back so many old memories, and reminded us of when our children were still children rather a teenager and young adult respectively. It’s remarkable how powerful memories linked to objects can be.

It’s a big but brisk car, which sounds wonderful, and driving up the steep hills in Porlock and Lynton & Lynmouth, with the sound echoing from the stone lining the gorges, it sounded absolutely glorious.

Took mine to work at 6:45am

Got home from work at 7:00pm

Despite all my criticism it’s a bl00dy good van kitted out perfectly. The almost anorak set-up was commented on by my very elderly and eccentric customer.
