What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Mb for a service . Oil n filter only .

Back Thursday for 9g gearbox service I enquired about .

Despite moving house last year I still use the council run MOT station which was between my old home and the office. They’re great but it does mean I have to leave at 0600 to arrive for a 0700 MOT slot!

This morning I went outside to be greeted by Armageddon, dark, blustery and very heavy rain. There were multiple instances of moderate flooding and large puddles even on fast NSL dual carriageways.

Luckily the car I took for its MOT was my winter car - an SUV with Continental winter tyres and airmatic so it can be lifted in food water - so it was the car we have which is best able to deal with the conditions.

It passed with a clean bill of health, with a note that there’s grease on the front brake pipes. I had them replaced a year or so ago and they regressed them again after fitting so no concerns there.

Just two hours later the flood water was much deeper covering much larger areas. I can’t believe how many people believe they must drive through deep water at speed, covering passing cars in lots of water,

Worse still some drivers don’t seem to slow down in the conditions, and must hit the flood water hard - there were multiple front bumpers and lots of pieces of trim floating or stranded in the water in various places.

We live near a river so we’ve parked cars with airmatic in their highest positions for for now, and moved the lowest cars to the highest ground. Hopefully unnecessary but it gets bad it might make the difference.

Had four Continental Premium Contact 7 fitted to the B Class. Not a bad price at £100 each from (whisper it) Kwik-Fit. Given the state of our roads, I’ve taken out their tyre insurance which has served me well in the past.

I changed 4 drop links on the s212 today and it was actually very easy. I did two rears on the Alfa as a warm up as I thought they would be easier. How wrong was I! I ended up cutting them off with a junior hacksaw as there was no room. Evil job. So onto the Merc this morning and it was super easy. The rears seemed fine but I changed them anyway. The fronts were definitely a bit more wiggly so will be interesting to see if it drives more nicely. While there I had a good look at the subframe and brake lines. All seems good.👍

Strictly speaking the last few weeks but finishing today, my, no strange noises, power steering fixed. Here is my story... HERE

Last full clean and wax till spring, Fusso coat 99.
Only problem is I can see the imperfections clearer now. 😱

I had to travel on business today, and planned a scenic route across country with some good driving roads. It meant I had to get up a little earlier. And arrived home a little later, but it was worth it to really enjoy the journey.

EML light came on in one of the higher mileage W212 OM651s.

Checked and showing soot content of DPF is out, differential pressure though for DPF shows as OK.
Going to test pressure sensor, clean DPF today and allow this to soak for a day before a blast tomorrow.

Yesterday we traveled 144 miles to Manchester.

Today we traveled 144 miles home.

Love our car. It suits us and our needs perfectly.

Had Van valeted whilst away. It’s as clean as the day I collected it 12 months ago to the day. 👌
Cracking van, cracking car 👌🏻

Especially the van! 😁

We all know why you especially like the vans Rob. Bet you’ve already a tip run planned for 27th December. 😁
It’s already booked in Ant. Now you’re coming for lunch at 1500 today, I’ve also booked a slot at the tip at 1515, 1515, 1530, 1545, and 1559. They close at 1600 on Sundays so that’s all we can squeeze in today. I don’t have much to take but I never waste the opportunity to make good use of a van, especially cool vans like yours! 😁

Got my eBay delivery of 2x new Goodyear efficient grip put on my loose E class summer wheels . Back stacked in the garage now for next springs wheel changeover .
