It does make the car look better

the nice bit is, it can always be clipped back on if the next owner's wants it looking orginal.

I love the look of them without it, just doesnt look right now wen i see one with it lol to fussy

Saving my pennies now for refurbing the wheels and may try to get rad grille colour matched to wheels (gunmetal grey) if possible. Rear is debadged but stndard pipes which I like - keeps people guessing (especially when I get it tuned) :D
 
my 211's glow plug's ready for doing as well... :thumb:

Had a issue where i would start the car 1st thing from cold and the glow plug light would come on and go out like normal, but then re apear moments later.

After Having the glow plugs replaced with Oe equiv Beru ones she still had the same issue.

Anyway did a little research on here and the net and came to the conclusion they relay maybe at fault.

So i orderd a Meyle one which are Oe quality German replacement and come with 2 years guarentee.

Here's my Old relay manufactuer date 2007 so has been replaced before.

Looking at the state of the power terminal its pritty clear it needed replacing.

Above is the Replacement Meyle relay and the relay itself is situated just below and infront of the Header tank.

Its held in with 2x 10mm nuts and has 2 pushfit plugs, and the 1 bolt through terminal (power lead) i little tight but managed to change it without removing the header tank, i removed the 2 10mm nuts 1st then disconnected the cable tie hold the loom to the inner chassis rail.

This gave me clearence to undo the multi plugs then disconnect the power lead making sure i didnt touch it against anything metal. Then i fitted the new unit in reverse order.

Hay presto, the glow plug light now comes on as normal and heats a little longer than before, It stays off now too (bonus lol)

Another job done, Just for info the relay was supplied by "Incar Motor Factors" £72.00 inc vat n delivery, i gave them the part number but they also do a relay and glow plug kit. think this was around £110
 
Preventive maintenance

Had a great day at the HLM Volvo dyno day, 421 miles on Half a tank the car didnt miss a beat i'm so in love with the Merc's again:rock:

What i did notice was there was a small wisper from the Drive belt area, took a look and the Original drive belt was badly cracked and also stretched.

So i thought id better change it, managed to do it without taking the fan cowling off.

Using a T60 torx and a 12mm spanner i released the tension off the belt tensioner and slipped the old Belt off. Reverse upon refitting and job done:bannana:

The Belt size on mine was a 6Pk2260
 
Detailed abit more

Car's been runing spot on returning 50+ mpg with ease after the remap, Gave her another detail tonight next on the cards is to take the bumpers off and start cleaning behind them before moving on underneath,

I try to keep mine in that sort of condition. Engine bay cleaned wheels cleaned 2 or 3 times a week etc My problem is I don't want to drive it as it gets dirty again am I sad or what :)

Well not much has been happening on the Project side of stuff, I've done around 7,500 miles now and the Merc hasnt put a foot wrong..... up until now. Had a error message flag up on the dash not so long ago after a full day valeting her (doors left open" saying the "brake effort was low" this went immediatly after starting the car and pedol was normal and has been since with no message been displayed since

then i had this message: Convenience features disabled, 2 days ago after id again been leaving doors open cleaning etc, this again would sort itself out after starting the car and hasnt re accured but im figuring the aux battery is getting tired, Part do not cost me much as i own a small Motor Factors, so anything the cars needs it gets.

So i did just that changing out the AUx battery which is located under the pollen filter, Turns out its the orignal battery from 2003. quite a easy job no reprograming required to anything "thank god lol" and the test drive after all went well. here's the pic's even managed to give it a little clean under there.

I will keep you peeps informed if the problem persists but hopefully all will be ok.
