Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

The 456 is a beautiful and timeless design, and still undervalued. To think that mint cars were low £30ks from specialists ten years ago. They are hellishly expensive to maintain though, but you’d expect that.
That four seater Ferrari tradition, following the path of the 400i etc (The one below is also still just £40k..)

But my point was more about the challenges of using a 60's car.

I saw some beauties today on a long walk along the river. I’ll post some piccies but they’re on my phone at the mo’.

first up a beautiful, immaculate gold Lancia Gamma coupe (only three left in the UK apparently). Same owner had a Citroen XM (and a CLK). Along the same road was a Plymouth Prowler which I’d never seen in the flesh.

We walked from Walton-on-Thames to the Magna Carter and back and stumbled across a breakfast car meet at Runnymede with all sorts; highlights were an Escort Mexico, trans Am race car with a 454 and a Plymouth Cuda..

On the water saw a stunning Riva Rudy Super. Not in the same league as an Aquarama but still has great style and a 5 litre V8!

I remember reading in a magazine 10-15 years ago first service was around 3000£.
Sounds right for main dealer.

My BiL used to reckon giving an independent £3k - all in - to maintain his much more complicated 550 Maranello.

But the 400i is a simpler beast from earlier days.

That's a lovely area - I lived close to the Thames there for 25 years ... Teddington, Shepperton, Walton and finally East Molesey (Hampton Court). We still go down regularly as my mum is in a home in Shepperton (about 100 yds from where we used to live), and for now we still have her old house in Walton.

A great location for spotting nice cars is HWM (IIRC the oldest Aston Martin dealership in the world), which is just by the Walton side of the bridge. Apart from new & used Astons of all types they also usually have a few high end Porsches, AMGs etc. for sale. There's even an MB link as they have a very flash Sprinter as their 'flying technician' mobile unit :D

I know HWM well as my folks live in Hersham and I grew up there. I remember the 1980’s when they would have loads of Lagondas outside and V8 Vantages etc. I still love those wedge shaped Lagondas! At one point I remember they had one of their old Grand Prix cars in the showroom. They’ve currently got a very nice DB4 competition car - worth a look if you’re passing . 👍

This...at my work today....fresh out of a full resto inside and out.....literally like a brand new car....very nice.

Wow, now that's a rare thing. Had some fun driving one of those back in the pre-Mx5 day.

Being nosey, any idea how much such a full renovation would have cost ?

My parents' house is between Walton and The Halfway, on the way to Hersham. We moved there in 1972 - a few months later Panther Cars started operating from a lockup garage 50 yds away (on the left here):

I used to watch them at work every day as I walked past, and we'd hear them driving completed cars out in the evenings.

So THAT's why Panther are so strongly connected to that bit of Surrey. (I knew two Lima owners who lived in that area)
You learn something every day.
