Obscure factoid: there is a Mercedes connection.
I was noodling about the web, as this picture reminded me that my B-I-L regularly drove an MK (the military version) during his stint in the services.
The MB connection is that apparently the TK was built under licence in Turkey by a company called Genoto, who fitted it with an MB OM352 5.7 litre lump as used in the Unimog

I don't think I've seen one for at least 30 years.! - I would have expected them all to have rusted away to dust by now, but no. This was a rust free example, and very well prepared imho.
Talking to the owner, he's going to sell it as his wife "won't even get in it these days"..

Saw this today in a Lidl car park of all places - an original 1944 Kübelwagen! It had gone when I came out so the owner was presumably in there stocking up on Wurst, Schnapps, etc.
