Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Badged as David Brown? It is still a 1956 Aston Martin. Reg checker states it used to be green up until 2018, now painted grey.

Very smart, great knowledge & research demonstrated.
Both wrong.!!!

Correct answer :

No, if you look carefully that's actually two Aston Martins.
Wel In ! ;)
Oh yes now i can see WEL 1N lurking in the background.

Thought it was a Ford Fiesta up on axle stands to be honest :p

I had a 1600GT in that colour back in 1974 complete with the black vinyl roof , I don't think the chrome trims on the arches are original, neither are the alloys.
They are aftermarket add on, gives it a bling factor ✨😄

Next, from the selection I spotted .:

Someone obviously cares dearly for it, as it seems to have it's own purpose made enclosure.
Number plate had me a little confused, as I would place it well before 1977 ?

First Registered 30/12/68. 🤔🤔 And looks it. 🤫

Manufactured in 1968. First registered in June 1977 (hence the R suffix plate) - it's normally illegal to have a reg. that makes a car look younger than it actually is, but not sure what happens with imports and ex-military vehicles. Or it could even have been used solely on a big country estate or similar and not initially registered for road use?

Fwiw my first thought, when I spotted the plate/age disparity, was "that'll be an ex MOD then"..
Hadn't thought of the Country Estate angle, interesting thought :thumb:

Sounds like a Donington secret super car day....

👀 I couldn’t possibly say… 😁
Phew! Good job you gave no details away, or we might just have to shoot you...
I did one a couple of years ago, but the statute of limitations has now expired on that one....
I'd only ridden the circuit on motorcycles previously, and found it much narrower in a 200mph car. I did manage to stay behind David Brabham in a similar car for a few laps until he had warmed up the tyres on his racing version, then he just drove off into the distance! 'Brabs' drove for me at Jaguar, Toyota, Mclaren and Bentley over a 20 year period in sportscars so that shouldn't have been a big surprise!

I'm pretty certain that without exception, the drivers of all that exotica (although obviously pleased with their cars) were secretly hankering after that ultimate rarity, the Smart ForFour Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi by Brabus.

Back then you got a plate dated to the year the vehicle was registered or re registered, not related to year of manufacture. I had a 50's US car which had a T plate (1979). The system was changed at some point so that you get an age related reg now.
