Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

I had a good look around a Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato this morning, which is an “off-road” version of the Huracan. Probably the most suitable mid-engined supercar for the very heavy rain and flash floods.

Just needs a bull bar, Warn winch and 6 LED worklights on the roof to be perfection....oh and one of those Snorkel intake extension thingies.

Looks like a Lotis Emeya to my tired old eyes. It was announced last year but if I remember right, production starts around now which suggests that this may be a prototype or a very early production car.
Yes, I've spotted a number of these whilst walking the dogs in deepest Norfolk. Oddly, only a few miles from Hethel.
We certainly don't see as many new cars here as in London...unless they are Lotus ones.
My previous Norfolk home I was just 1/2 a mile (as the turkey flies!) from the Hethel test track..... ;)

We’ve got a relative who works for Lotus Engineering at Hethel.

I remember him being Lotus mad years ago and for the last 20 years he’s been doing the job of his dreams.

You’re closer than you think. If you look at the trailing edge of the roofline, that’s a snorkel - that’s a functional air intake for the engine!

They weren’t being driven on the road, but I happened to see not one - but two - of our very own @mactec wonderful XJ220 today in two completely separate locations!

The second was owned by Jaguar, and was a prototype with a V12. The first was a privately owned production car kept in storage. They have an incredible presence.

Also, strangely I came across two Metro 6R4, again in two different locations, even more remarkable given the commonality of the engine with the production XJ220. Remarkable coincidence.

Also got up close and personal with Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, an astonishingly expensive piece of kit when new, and still dramatically beautiful a handful of years later.

And last not least I saw a gaggle of Prodrive P25 shells with the carbon panels in place, one of which was painted in precisely the hue you’d expected to be. Again insanely expensive, but very cool.

The Alfa had a bit more fettling today at Autolusso Bournemouth (removed air con compressor, fitted shorter aux belt and new idler). Although they specialise in Alfas they had a couple of other treats in the workshop - Pug 205 GTI and a Ferrari 456. The 456 dwarfed my GTV (on the ramp above it in the photo). I do like those big Fezzas. In the photo there’s also a GTV Cup, a 105 series GTV and a Spider. Interestingly the Spider and the 105 share the same floor pan etc, could be as much as 30 years apart. I didn’t get a photo but a chap picked up his Fiat Stilo Schumacher Abarth GP Prodrive (what a name, almost as good as BD’s Brabus Smart Navi thing!). A super rare beauty - I think there were only 60 made.

This is the photo with the GTV Cup - nice number plate. I’m not sure if it’s number 50. There were 155 RHD versions.

I was sitting behind a Mercedes GLC AMG63s in Chiltern St.
It had enormously wide rear tyres and made a lovely noise but apart from that I don’t really see the point.
Perfect for someone who wants an exceptionally fast car, with SUV practicalities, but with a smaller footprint.

The GL 63 and Macan Turbo are excellent Jack of all trades. People who get them really get them. Those who don’t don’t:

Always had a fancy for a Spyder, but wife thinks they look like Jar Jar Binks 🤔🤭

Being a Jack of All Trades you’re saying it’s got a massive boot, brilliant in the mud on the farm and I can get 750kg of lead in it?

Errr, no. By Jack if all trades I meant it can perform well in almost every major dimension of being a car for every purpose., with very little by way of compromise.
