Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

I can think of many better ways to spend £43K!!

Seeing the Bentleys on the posts above takes me back to the late 1960's when 3 of us, after a big fight with headmaster, set up a car club at our grammar school, and persuaded Bentley Owners Club to bring what was supposed to be 1 car but turned into 3 to visit and give a talk about the cars and their history. Chaos in the school car park at throwing out time with a 4L, 4 1/2L and 6L parked up and everyone and his dog stopping to look and drool!! We, the organisers, were not popular with school management!! After, they said they were heading for a certain pub in Chislehurst "sort of" on my way home, so I hitched a ride - it may be about 57 years ago but it still sticks in my memory, especially a mini trying to burn us off in the traffic lights GP and getting severely sh88t upon by tons of BRG Bentley!! Engines were slow slow revving your cold almost hear and count each cylinder firing, but boy did they have bottom end torque thus acceleration! Mini driver inside us at the lights also got annoyed when I went to put my elbow on the door of the car I was in and actually put my elbow on his roof!

I know this slightly off topic, but I went to Newbury yesterday to a Jaguar Enthusiasts Club meeting. I was invited as guest speaker as they were having a special TWR JaguarSport themed event and I was the engineering chief for the racing cars of that '80's period.
Of course, I've never owned a Jaguar, so I just turned up in the Bentley....

There were 32 TWR Jaguarsport modified cars which crawled out of the woodwork and turned up for this event, mostly XJ and XJS cars

There were also much more modern cars and some old favourites like the Mk2's

As was customary, it was also my job to choose 'Car of the Show' or the one I'd most like to drive home. In a rare event of 'heart over head' I chose this:

This beautiful 60's E type won me over. A rare hardtop rather than fastback, harking back to the lightweight racing E type of the period and displaying perfectly the design cues which were used in a car with which I was much more familiar, the XJ220.

They said choose any car, so with the reg. 1000 NE....it fitted the bill..:dk:

Following on from the Jaguar meet mentioned above - the immaculate E-type below was on display outside the pub at the British Embassy in Dubai at a “Made In Britain” event that I attended a few years back (just noticed it was actually 2014 - how time flies!)
The other photos were of the Triumph motorbikes, McLarens, Bentley, Aston Martin etc.that they had on display there!
