Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Nice patina there 😁

Wow, they are very rare. Built on a Triumph Dolomoite. Where did you see it because I’ve never seen one.
It was parked in a back alley in a coastal town near to Newcastle Upon Tyne. Very pretty little car with it's Rolls Royce style front grille. Mint condition so i assume has recently been restored. Dolomite Sprint underpinnings so a hot little saloon in it's day.

Panther started in a lockup garage on Crutchfield Lane, Walton-on-Thames ... the same year my parents bought their house less than 100 yds away. I used to walk past on the way to & from school and the doors were always wide open so you could see the cars being made. We used to hear them being taken out for test drives etc. too. I left home in 1980 and the original company folded at about the same time, it was then bought by Koreans and moved to a bigger site in Byfleet where probably their best-known cars (e.g. the Kallista) were made. My parents still live in the same house and I walked past the old Panther lockup a few weeks ago taking a letter to the postbox for them :)

Thanks for sharing that BTB500, very interesting bit of history. Oddly the one i saw was parked in an alleyway not unlike the one in your post. Spooky

Very pretty little car.

A fascinating trend in 70's British cars - posh versions of mundane cars. BL's Vanden Plas being the obvious mass produced ones.

A hot little saloon but an eye watering price though.

Interesting 1990 SL300 at my indy. Off road for 4 years very recently serviced and MoT. 137000 miles. Needs refreshing but looks sound. He's selling on behalf of a customer. What's it worth?

It's been de-badged but to be accurate it's a 300 SL ... the 'SL xxx' naming came in later. It was MOT'd in May but the last one before that was 2014 so it looks like was off the road for 5 years or so. Value depends hugely on condition (particularly the hood etc.), but there are a few things that will knock it down:

High mileage for an SL
The 300 isn't particularly desirable (and prone to head gasket failure)
Alloys are aftermarket replicas
Looks like the electric aerial died and someone stuck another one on the other side

I'd want to have a good look at the back end as the numberplate (which is screwed on) isn't straight.

But if everything works properly and there's no rust it could be a decent roadster for someone.

Being a 1990 would that be one of the very first of the new R129 series? Being that age maybe adds some value? But overall not worth more than £5-6k? (just guessing)

I don't think being a very early car would increase the value, but the R129 came out in '89 anyway.

How about this....
My mate over the border in yorkshire bought this just before Covid-19 hit
Hes had it in to Mercedes dealer to ask about a service... not listed sir?????? Hes been told its 24 sparkplugs @ £500 so cant wait till he gets a quote for a full service:eek:CL600.jpg

I saw this round the corner from where I live. The owner appeared and I had a good chat with him - I guess you don't drive one of these if you're a shy & retiring type. Told me all about running it including the fact that Autoglass actually stock windscreens. There's only one person in the UK who can do the bodywork, though.

I don't think I've ever seen one the road and it actually looks great.

One for Patrick.

This car was parked 200 metres from Altrincham Football Club and there are usually quite a few others of the same outside the house, but just the one this time. A collector you might know, Patrick?

I did take a side view image but the image is too large to post?
