Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

Saw these today. Not seen a GTAm Before in the flesh. Proper spec one with just the two seats. Epic livery and sounded like Thor, or possibly more correctly Jupiter!

I love the patina of the Ferrari. It sounded frightening.

Sadly not one Merc at the whole Silver Flag event.

This amazing colour V8 Biturbo parked near Leeds Town Hall.
We were not the only passers-by taking photos.MB V8 BITURBO.jpg

Beat this.....hand built by the attractive young lady driving it.....hand beaten roof and all! In a previous life it was an ASDA home delivery van! Just as wacky inside....

But is it ?

YR16XBE had done less than 18,000 miles spread over five years when it was MoT'd six months ago, but the car in that Autotrader advert has done 30,000 miles.

OK, maybe it has done 12,000 miles in the last six months, but my nose thinks it's more likely a different car with the same bespoke PPF wrap

And here it is for sale.

What an advert - says its AMG Solarbeam! Also says it is red, can’t have been both
also says it has AMG Performance Seats - it doesn’t. Looks like a base spec GT Premium with a wrap, anyone’s guess what it’s covering🙀

No pictures of engine compartment, not wrapped? Door shuts suggest dark grey or black as original unless they have been wrapped to

Can see red paintwork in the picture with the boot open. No signs of Solarbeam though.

I won’t post any of the vehicles I saw at the Schlumpf collection today as that’s cheating! I did see this though in Kaysersberg where we‘re staying tonight. Very very nice.

Two tone cars look great I think, not sure why more don’t do it. I can only think of the Abarth 500’s as modern cars go.

I also saw a Renault Avantime but alas no photo. I do quite them, typically quirky French.

Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Smart are the ones which spring to mind beyond the Fiat 500.

It was the Avantime that made me buy my E500 estate. I tried to buy one at Historics but it slipped away for about £7k, I think.

So I looked on AT and found a one owner 2004 on 41k that lived in St Johns Wood.

Ava times are great and fascinating, but I probably made the right choice, methinks

When you’ve seen a few dozen Bugattis in a row, it barely justifies comment

It’s amazing isn’t it? I was chatting to a German chap and we both thought it was overwhelming, and even too much at times. Fascinating place and story behind it. For me the 1950‘s GP cars were the stand out, just to see so many different marques together. And the Merc W154’s…stunning engineering.

Thats my lot for cars now on this trip, after the Silver Flag, Alfa Museum and Schlumpf collection we worked out we’ve looked at about 1000 cars!

I looked at an Avantime actually before I bought my old Mondeo. I could only find a quite tatty one. Then I was nearly swayed by a fully loaded Fiat Croma. A handsome thing but I was nervous how rare they were in the UK.

Swerve by Stuttgart for the Mercedes and Porsche museums….

And did you see the Auto et Technik museum with the old Concorde that you can walk through?

Maybe hit the Cité du Train?
