Have You Seen Any Interesting Cars On The Road Lately?

(Cough) I know what you mean.

"When you know what your doing" from different times. (1974)

Struggling to place that 1970's dashboard. Anyone recognise it ? Maybe a Bristol 411 ?

The difference between the Vitesse and the "unsafe at any speed" Corvair was that the Vitesse was sold to people who had some idea of how to drive it, whereas the Corvair was more of a family wagon with unsafe traits that your local garage didn't know about - like those weird tyre pressure differences between front and back.

So, in general, the Vitesse driver with his string-backed driving gloves was less likely to come a cropper.
I know you know that's a TR5/6 dashboard... ;)

However, I think the Rothmans geezer is driving a Lotus Elan. Their dashboards came in several varieties and your man drove several cars including Astons and Granadas.

The Vitesse was a bastard. A Herald with a 2litre engine, also used in the GT6. But Screamin Jesus they were fun.

The fatal flaw for drivers of all swing axle cars is to lift off the power while cornering. Mercedes had a swing axle design also but had a built in horizontal damper made by Boge NLA to counteract the effect-- Mercedes models have largely had the horizontal damper replaced by a spring now.

I’m at the Silver Flag hillclimb at the moment and so many suitable cars for this thread! But how about these, ok not cars but how much fun! I should have got my wife to stand next to them for scale, they were tiny!

MERCEDES version of swing axle- a sort of hinged live/cart axle.

My second car ownership was the earlier Series 1 Vitesse, 1600 6 pot if I remember, and at seventeen years old was a bit of a handful to put it mildly. Anything near an emergency stop had the vehicle looking frankly ridiculous at the rear, with the wheels tucked under. 😆

For sure, I couldn’t find a string backed hand on a Herald steering wheel to illustrate the story, and settled for a Triumph.

That pic brought back memories of another of my vehicles. Hideous haircut, but then it was the seventies 🤔

Isn't it strange how a lot of people with cars like the one in Sarries car park seem to think that parking restrictions don't apply to them.

Judging from that taste in cars, their seeing dog may be the problem.

And you know what’ll happen when you mention it to the driver.
I would always keep my opinions to myself in those situations, all you would get is a gobfull or worse
