The EV fact thread

But are these figures working on the energy that the battery has in it, or the amount of energy required to charge the batteries? :dk:

The test was from 100% charge till the car stopped moving, so driving consumption was calculated as total miles covered divided by the quoted 'usable' battery capacity.

Much as I loathed Tesla 3's, Windows 1.0, and the original Apple Mac,

this facelift Tesla 3 does look "interesting."

What would a test drive show?

It’s much nicer than the previous, there is a red one in the next street to me which looks great but I haven’t seen it up close to see if build quality has improved.

Ignore the externals, it "sounds like" many issues have been resolved. (Leaden handling, noise intrusion, horrible control panel, cheap & nasty interior, external build quality etc.

Only a test drive will show if its true.

How do you tell if a car salesperson is lying? "Her lips move."

Good to see the bottom end of the EV market getting more crowded.

The likes of the INEOS Fusilier etc are great cars, and everyone wants to make the cars that rich people buy, but right now we need more of the basic and affordable type.

Pity that it only looks about 10% as good as the prototype from the other year. Seeing the production version is very disappointing after that. Its lost or softened a lot of what made an R5 look like an R5 which the prototype had on spades. But isn't that always the case..... get your hopes up... to have them dashed by the production, bean counting reality.
Prototype....

A small insight into modern Britain....... Not particularly EV related but .......

So today I carried 8 x 15kg crates 200 yards up a persons driveway in the pissing rain.

The customer notes stated do not park on the driveway.

The driver notes stated do not ask the customer why you cannot use the driveway, it will only wind you up.

So of course I had to ask ........

"I'm not having a polluting vehicle on my property"

So it's perfectly fine to pollute everyone else driving the 50 miles from the depot to you to deliver YOUR shit but it's not ok to pollute outside your house

(No prizes for guessing what cars they owned !!!! )

My God - FIFTY years - where's it gone!

They were probably hidden in the garage whilst the "VS" Taycan was in plain sight.

The polluting thing was probably just an excuse for being a snob and not wanting a van outside their house. I'd bet if I was in a Fortnum and Mason Van I'd be allowed to use the drive 🤪
Some magnetic F&M signs called for methinks!

Put them on the $hit list (dangerous dog's or some other tale ...see what I did there ?) and never darken their driveway again.

Quite!

I’m in Frogland and it’s interesting that I’m seeing as many elderly R5’s and R4’s around as Tesla’s.

There are more EVs around - don’t get me wrong, but they are Zoe’s - the EU’s most popular EV. Not Chinese American EVs.

“Xenophobic? Nous !?” They say.

We can talk about the “risk of the Chinese invasion”, but the French will point out that they have fended off the Koreans, Japanese, Brits, Americans and even the Germans.
