The EV fact thread

And last, the US has the most extreme personal freedoms than any other place in the world, and forcing individuals to do things they didn't choose to do is going to be hard work

Particularly when they have guns ...

Bank holidays: nightmare.

Queues in the Supermarket, people fighting over the last of the Cadbury Mini Eggs (crucial for home baking), and staff struggling to keep the racks stocked.

Why don't people buy in advance.

At least no-one was using any of the eight EV chargers at all during the half hour that I was there.

Happy Easter, all !

I thought we don't have enough chargers in the UK........

Yep, bank holiday and lots of cars travelling with roof boxes. Remind me, how do EVs fare with substantial aero drag at speed?
Like on my S500L,roof boxes are noisy and less efficient.

But seriously, how often does anyone use a roof box in this age of the SUV ?

The days of four up in a 25mpg Hillman Minx with a roof box are long gone.

Thank you kindly for finishing my post. Indeed, an SUV will fare much better than a hatch with a strap-on. The anti-SUVers won't like it but when the drive train can't handle drag and speed...
I'm at a loss though as to why about half of the roof boxes I've seen today have SUVs beneath them - well cross-over sized at least. Kitchen sink or dogs - who knows?

Perhaps they put the first wife in there?

I was considering a roof box for my upcoming trip to Switzerland, but I'm concerned about it being a magnet for thieves when parked outside the hotel at night.

I'm not too concerned about energy consumption though , the chaps on the IONIQ forum said that France is lightyears ahead of the UK when it cones to public charging infrastructure, and charging the car along the route on fast chargers won't be an issue. Good job that the French have 50+ Nuclear power stations.....

Remember that Carrefour Hypermarkets will charge your IONIQ for free

What is the French for "China Syndrome" and "Chernobyl?"

But how many of the Fleet of nuclear are working , 50%

Mmmm, interesting, like it, personally wouldn't buy one, but it's certainly different and that's good. 🙂👍
Another “here today, gone tomorrow” novelty, I fear.

Whatever did happen to all 3,000 Polo Harlequins?

I must admit having ditched the EV, my commute back from work is so much easier. No range anxiety, heater on when I need it, the worry as to whether MK ionity will be busy / functioning is gone. No more trying to work out your place in the queue or waiting 30/40 mins for a charger, whilst the one tesla owner is sat there at 100% charge, whilst having dinner elsewhere (not having a dig at tesla drivers, just an example from my experience) and a Renault zoe is hooked up to a 320kwh charger drawing 50kwh ish tops 🙄

Loved the silent drive, instant torque etc very relaxing on a long journey, but it doesn't work for me right now given my job and where I live.

My wife has the Ioniq 6, brilliant car and she loves it, but her range and car spec was superior to mine (where it matters).

Oh and ionity doubling my subscription rate without warning ... Nice one.
