The UK Politics & Brexit Thread

The interesting bit here is that Proletariat chose as their leader a man who spends £20k on designer suits, with a wife with an equally expensive taste in clothes................. "you're one of us, mate" - not.
Just to clarify, does this son of a man who owned a manufacturing business, actually buy £20,000 worth of designer suits, using his own money?

Or does he receive £20,000 worth of designer suits from a rich powerful friend?

His predecessor, the kid who was the son of an NHS Doctor and a Chemist shop owner, bought his own clothes, from his own money.

Which we said was a “bad thing” at the time.

That is New New Socialism.

At least it would have explained the bad fit if they'd been bought for him!

The discussion on there about Starmer/Labour mirrors much of what is on here and I recommend it as an effective form of therapy. We are not alone! 😁
The clever thing about Tony was that he knew that when he stood up as PM his greatest opposition was sat behind him.

By far the majority didn’t vote Labour but even those who did put a cross by Labour aren’t all behind things like Winter Fuel, Green Energy, stopping North Sea Oil, unlimited immigration, rejoining the EU and inventing foreign wars to keep the military busy.

Look, if you’ve got multimillionaire friends in the fashion business, what’s a bit of I’ll scratch your back if you’ll clothe my wife’s?

True but do declare the gifts.
Having said that, FYI, we are not millionaires and unfortunately, I. we, even our joint income does not match Starmer annual income of at the very least 166k, plus free housing and free fleet of cars with drivers, etc..

I may be different to politicians but we do have rich siblings me and Mrs, not very rich but both are worth in excess of 3 mill if they sold their properties/business etc after taxes. I would never accept presents from anyone to clothe us unless it was a birthday gift etc

In a couple of years we would have been entitled to the Winter Fuel allowances but not no more as we dared not to be dependent on benefits.

I have considered standing for election as well as my Mrs and creating a new political party based on "openness and transparency."
These will be promises, not just empty words. Therefore, anyone who wishes to donate a few k's for our clothing along with a few hols via private jets in a seafront mansion are welcome to contact us directly to make donations. A couple of Range Rovers/Benetly SUV's along with the new S Class Maybach are also welcome. In return, I will ALWAYS put you and our country first 🤣

Edit. I promise not to be hypocritical. Btw, is Albania in the UK?😂

I guess we gotta admit to being a poor nation.
Up his minimum wage to £16 p.h I say.
And max come to that.

It's time our PM's were paid what they are worth.
what 1p a year? their not worth that. Lying, cheating, scheming individuals with snout firmly in the trough right up to the ears.

The Human Rights barrister who blocked Rwanda and who is now Prime Minister would hasten to point out two things:

Albania isn’t full of African people and is more expensive than Rwanda

The return route from Albania to England is much easier for an exiled migrant wishing to return to the UK. There are plenty of skilled organisations ready and able to bring such migrants back to Dover using well established routes

(Human Rights barristers are available and willing to debate the whole process, at a discounted rate of £10,000 per day, plus VAT)

Champagne Socialism …. started by Bliar . It’s very easy to be a millionaire socialist
Hardly.

The tradition goes back to the 1960’s with Wilson, Jenkins, Ernest Marples and Robert Maxwell.

Bolly Bolsheviks as June Whitfield explained to Saffy in AbFab

BTW, not sure if it is still so but back in my yoof I worked in Barristers chambers and Barristers are the only "Trade" in the UK that are "allowed" to pay VAT on fees when actually paid not when invoiced.

Lucky old them

Silly me, I failed to note the blatantly obvious! No wonder I'm not a top-flight barrister or PM for that matter.
Thank you very much.

PS. As per my previous post on this thread, I'm still open to offers.🤣

Not sure about this. I thought this was an option for businesses turning over less than £135 million when actual payment of invoices runs a risk of being slow.

But there’ll be an Accountant along in a minute…

Blair wasn't a Champagne Socialist - his New Labour was 'pro-Business', and he never claimed to come from humble beginnings - his only claim to being 'one of us, mate' was his part as a member of the Ugly Rumours pop band while at uni. In fact, he was often accused by Labour party members of being 'a Tory spy'. Blair took the Labour Party from the political Left to very close to the political centre, taking a leaf out of the Tories' book.

Keir Starmer, on the other, acts like the typical nouveau riche, and he no doubt has matching furniture.....

Barristers "Invoices" are not counted as "Invoices" but a "Gentleman's notice to the recipient Solicitor" so no VAT is due til paid, nothing to do with deferment !
